Well, I was in heavy traffic and my car started making the most horrible noise I have ever heard. It was like a very loud belt squeal from inside the motor. If that makes any since. It started out as a knock at low rpm's, and the squeal went away after driving it. I'm thinking timing chain now. Is there a tensioner on the timing chain that could have broke? It's running good, good oil pressure and all that.

Alternator wizard. Tíming chain wouldnt do it. And if it did it wouldnt b very long Lol. Alternators and idler pulleys are the First two suspects. Does it go seay after u go above idle?

There's no tensioner. There could be a chain damper, but, you would know 'cuz you would have to have added it yourself. Hmmmm, knock then squeal? Could be alot of things, lifter, bent pushrod, stuck or bent valve, a rocker arm that dumped its' needle bearings, spun bearing, pilot bearing...etc.. If it were timing chain related, she'd be on the side of the freeway, most likely. Check your oil drain plug for metal shavings or needle bearings. Also, pull the valve covers & look for any valvetrain issues.

Thanks for the help guys. It's definately not any of the thing you mentioned though. I've taken this whole car apart looking for this noise. Had the valve covers off, everything was new, no metal shavings in the oil, took the tranny off, put a new flywheel on, changed the exhaust...I have a video of the noise http://sharkeysauto.com/IMG_0727.MOV
