USA: Lutz confirms Australian Holden Monaro to become US Pontiac GTO

The Australian designed and built General Motors Holden Monaro coupe will be lightly restyled and sold in the United States from 2004 as a reborn Pontiac GTO, GM product 'czar' Bob Lutz confirmed at this week's New York motor show. A concept version will be displayed at the 2003 Detroit motor show.

Whether or not people can handle a rebadged Monaro as a GTO, I am very excited to see GM keeping some form of the LS1/6 engines going outside of Vettes and trucks.
Now I am waiting to see pricing and engine specs. Then I will really know how I feel.

Anounced at the NADA convention to the Chevy dealers..... Chevys version of the GTO will be the Belair.... Price around $27,500.
