Looking from an American perspective I can understand the unpure feelings of our vehicles being classed as muscle cars. Australia simply doesn't have the money to design, build and justify purpose built 2 door hero cars like the corvette. The monaro (GTO) was our last and it didn't sell enough to justify its future even with US sales. Instead our car makers modify the base product to a point where it becomes a sudo muscle car. You guys have the G8 now so you can have a taste of our entry level V8 cars. Still though we have far better products available in the HSV stable that the US will probably never see.

I look forward to going to Alaska next month and driving some of the US's finest
very well put and I see now where you are coming from. Well if there was family sedan I would want to drive it would be one that looks and hauls like that. Enjoy your trip to alaska, its absolutly beautiful.

And to the previous poster, no it does not need a ram air hood. Just does not need to look like that green one....dunno how you say rice in aussie slang.

Love the trailer hitch. Man, it has to be weird banging gears left handed.

Not when you've got years of experience doing it. Funny when I drive LHD cars. When reversing I always bash my arm on the door window.

Just to add to the flavour, a few pics of my 2001 VX HSV Senator.

And a couple of mine with my brother's 2003 VY GTS

As macca said, these are primarily family cars, as our market does not allow for a purpose-built 'sports' car, but these go very bloody well and we have N/A cars running low-11s and even high-10s over here, which is decent, considering they weigh 4000lbs.

How many of your 'family' cars in the States can do that and still be driven to the shops, schools, etc, performing family duties on a daily basis?

Cheers,

Macca

Mustang and a Vette right now

Everything else is cheap, slow fwd crap
My FWD LS4 will destroy you. On topic, though, I'm really liking the SS, but I just cannot deal with the whole european car market thing.. Wagons are ****, and 4-door 'sport cars' are just.. meh. Also, you ask what V8 American sedans can do that? Dodge Charger, for one. Most likely the new Ford Interceptor.

I don't disagree that there are some good looking cars. (Audi R8, Opel Roadster, Audi S4, etc) but it's just the whole 4-door sport-car thing is so.. no.

I dont care if it had 4 doors if its rwd and has a lsx sittin under the hood . Makes for the perfect daily driver imo. I think it would be cool if they made an awd version though that way us guys that get snow would have good traction in the winter.

Hmm bad *** 4 door sedan with a hitch I love it. Most Americans don't get it but I do. Those who need to drive around a car that says hey look at me I'm cool that's fine , I don't need to compensate for any shortcomings, I'll take the above car anyday...
