the rule is you cant cross the center line. i touched the center line and was D&Qed. not bitching JUST SAYING.

 

Single Runs

In situations where a driver is making a single run, he or she is considered the winner once he or she stages and receives the start signal or is declared the winner by the official starter. If a competitor crosses the boundary line on a single run, the elapse time is voided for lane choice determination.

So it's not a DQ

yeah i thought you staged the car and break the beams your a winner, no matter what happens down track.... you dont even have to take the car down the track to win.

Bad call IMO.

 

ok, just got off the phone with NHRA. YOU MUST CROSS THE CENTER LINE WITH A COMPETITOR IN THE OTHER LANE TO BE D&QED. is the NHRA policy. crossingthe center line on a bye (solo) you dont have lane choice.thats what the NHRA says!

That sucks, I guess we will make a mental not for the future. This was an expensive way to find out.

 

Single Runs:
During single runs where there is not another competitor on the track to run against, the lone driver is considered the winner once he stages and the tree is activated. If this lone driver commits any lane violation the elapsed time is voided for lane choice determination and any E.T., MPH, awards, and/or records for points. On any single run a driver must self start and stage the car by proper NMCA procedure when called upon by the staging steward and the starter. Excessive time will not be allowed for a vehicle to self start and/or stage on single runs in qualifying or competition.
During eliminations, any driver who has earned a “BYE” run through position (not an opponent’s breakage beyond the front of staging) may choose not to make a full pass, but must report to staging when the round is called, self-start when instructed, stage under the vehicles power, and take the tree under proper procedure. Once the tree has been activated the driver is NOT required to make the run.

Disqualifications:
NMCA uses NHRA policies with regards to disqualifications (red-light starts, double red-light starts, crossing the centerline, etc.) in order to help prevent situations in which both competitors are disqualified and maximize the chances of declaring a winner. Please consult the 2012 NHRA Rulebook under General Policies for more information.
A competitor may not advance to a position in a later round that he did not actually compete in. In the event a class winner is disqualified for any reason, the runner-up will be declared the winner if he is certified as legal. If the runner-up is also disqualified, there will be no winner or runner-up for that class and no awards, points, or purse will be given for those positions.
