I might try to make this my first one!! its going to be a lot of miles for me. Is there actual driving or is it just a long traffic jam the whole way?

From what I have seen in the videos, folks tend to spread out on their own. Plus breakdowns tend to get more help if folks have a chance to get stopped safely and help out. If I went on the power tour, I would have it stuck in my head to bring my 16 ft trailer and ramps as a just in case for someone broken down. But then I would have to get a winch on it!

These events usually have the co-operation of the police departments along the way for escorts and traffic control as well.

Leave the trailer at home. That would be a major pain in the azzz to deal with. It would definitely take the edge off your buzz. I've learned to take less and less with me every year. The 2014 HRPT will make 11 in a row.

I don't get a buzz kill hauling a trailer around. If I did, I would not be a professional truck driver earning my living hauling a trailer. A 16 footer don't mean crap if the tow vehicle can handle it. And some folks would rather have a helping hand from a fellow racer than some asswipe in a wrecker who doesn't care about the vehicle they are hauling. Not saying they all are that way, but most of them can be a bit inconsiderate about a person's high value car.

I'm a professional truck driver too with 10 power tours behind me. I run about 3000 miles a week in a 18 wheeler. That doesn't mean crap and I don't see where that has anything to do with power touring. Be my guest take your trailer. My bet is you'll only do it once. I would much rather be doing some real power touring than phuchin around draggin a trailer. I've stopped and helped folks many times just like anyone who has done some power tours. 99.9% of the time no trailer is needed to get folks running down the road again. All you have to do is pull over to the side of the road to get something out of the back of your car and a dozen cars will stop because they think your broken down. GM also provides mechanical assistance to those who need it After you attend a power tour you will probably see how it works. Most hot rodders have a car trailer or access to one and decide to leave em at home. Please get off your soap box. Don't need any preaching from someone who has yet to do one power tour. Tour till it hurts!!

Alright guys, get on your CB's if you wanna dish this out LOL. I am considering going, think i would just pack what minor extra's I think I would need. How does Hotel arrangements go? does everyone pre-book or play it by ear. Like mentioned above I think I would be one of the first cars to take off in the morning to avoid traffic jams/traffic.

Talking Going again

Well I went on my first Power Tour in 2013 and had a blast. I meet some very nice folks while on the tour. I went to the big drivers meeting when we left Arlington Tx but that was it. I didn't worry about leaving early either though. Most times we left about the same time as the ones did from the meetings. We would stop and eat fill up the tanks and take pictures and video's. I drove from SC to TX and back to SC with a little over 3200 miles on the truck when all said and done. I plan to go the whole way in 2014 also. I'm from Charlotte so I may stay with my mom and dad in Conover NC are a brother who lives in Charlotte are with Big Dave off the bangshift forum. Either way I plan to run the dragstrip in Charlotte this time to see what the new 6.0LSx motor will do.
Here is the websites links.

My son and I are running the last two legs of this trip for sure, we live 20 minutes away from Lake County Fair Grounds. I am excited about this year and have been wanting to participate for many years but never had the chance. Some day I will be a long hauler but don't have the time and money this year. I am tuned in to the hotel information also. I may spend a few days at the dells afterwards.

I guess I better keep hammering down on my project so I can get it finished up in time.
