Default Newb here to learn

Here to learn. Once had a Mustang, currently an import guy, now looking at f-bodies. Probably won't be buying for a while (at least a year) but always good to read up on them first! Would really like to find a stripper LS1 T56 coupe (NO t-top) Formula. Car would be used for cruising around and some track days (road course).

Only pic I have handy is just after I got it tinted and the angle is a little goofy...

It's a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT 2.5 turbo, 5spd. Fun car. Handles well, easy to mod, decently quick (AWD on the street makes for some interesting stoplight races against arguably MUCH faster cars), seats 4 comfortably and 5...well as long as the rear seat passengers are all small.

Great DD, but not quite enough to justify as a weekend toy though.

I was on LS1tech for about a year as well until I finally graduated and got my car I have now. Its worth the wait, and I learned so much on this site, by the time I got my car a was very familiar with modding, fixing issues, and all general information. I used to be a ricer! Had a 1991 Accord four door with cat back and cold air intake ! I thought I was fast! LOL, I try not to remember those days.

Hey welcome!

and just FYI, all f bodies start as ttop so there isnt much structural loss in ttop cars. Hardtops just get sheetmetal in place of glass, so it ain't a big dif.

My friend's 4th gen firebird with headliner removed has two rails going along the top, over the doors, that wouldn't be present in a t-top. However, I believe with some decent weld in subframes you could negate any flex with the t-top and if I ever started to actually road RACE with a fully welded in 6 or 8 point cage, NASCAR bars, etc. it becomes a pretty moot point...the car is going to be super stiff.

There is a good chance I would compromise and get a t-top, plus it might be nice to have at night or on cool days. I'll just weld in some subframes.

I wouldn't call my Subaru a ricer car, but I don't feel it is fast enough at only 13.9x stock. Point is, however great a 4 door car is, it still isn't a 2 door and it isn't a V8 so going for a cruise really isn't all that exciting. So a DD it will stay...

Thanks WSsick! In any case, finding the mythical stripper formula T56 for the price I want is going to be hard enough...so if it has t-tops I won't sweat it :-)

Nice looking car. I'm happy to see no fartcan or wing, pretty nice for a dd. now all you need is to get your toy.. good luck on finding your perfect ls1
