Pretty sure the transmissions are pretty stout. As for the under rating, I don't realy think so. They pretty much nip at an LS1's heels so I'm pretty sure they are a hair faster than a well maintained LT1. They weigh a bit more than the GT though because of the bigger valvetrain. Still though that 4.6L 4 cam screams at high rpm.

Yes, they tend to be a little underrated. Some have made 280-295 rwhp stock.

13.1-13.3@105-106ish bone stock is not a hair faster than a stock LT1

A Mach 1 or an 03/04 Cobra are about the only two mustangs I would buy.

I love the way Mach 1's sound with exhaust on them, they sound unbelievably good. I know they have an all aluminum block with the SVT heads I believe, but I am not sure how durable they are transmission wise. I know the motor can handle a lot of power and is fairly durable. And for a stock V8 6800 rpm redline is damn good considering it came out just five years ago.

Can anyone comment on the 5 spd transmissions on these things, and if there are any problems with the mach 1's in general? Because if I like what I see tomorrow, I might end up getting one if the price is good.

The T3650 is a good tranny. There is a TSB out on teh synchros though. 123 can go out. Some people hate them, I'm a fan of them. I love hte ratios and I never had a problem in either of mine. But like any other car, some have problems. (TSB). If you really want to research them go onto mach1registry.com. Lot's of good info on there, along with your's truly. LOL

THey are under rated. A 'good' avg for 5pd machs is 275-280rwhp. A4s are typically 260-265.

Not it wouldnt'.......it's be better with a Forged 5.0 with a D1SC, T56 and 4.10s...or 3.55s with beefed 3650 though.

The only problem with that is mach's are a tad quicker than 04 GTO's and on par with 4th gen LS's and LS2 GTO's. So..why pay more?..unless you're into bragging rights.

I ahve to admit, I was interested in getting an 05+ GTO though.

So I can't contribute too much since I am new, butt noone else seemed to notice.. or comment....

A hawk and a mach, it's a match made in heaven... Or am I the only one with this thought proces..

Nice its the same color as my grand am I just sold, rare color for my car too.

Couple buddies of mine from the south bay area near san fran have some pretty quick fords so i do respect them, one being i think its about a 10 or 11 second tbird turbo coupe, the guy has had the car for years. Another buddy of ours has an 03 cobra i think is red i haven't seen it along with his r33 skyline he brought back from being stationed in japan. The cobra though I think is built a little, not sure never got the full story. Ohh and he has a built 01 mustang with SC on it.
