Default Not sure what to do.

Whats up Guys, Over the past couple of month's i though about getting a toy and tinkering with it, I originally wanted to Get a 2003-2004 Ford Mustang Cobra, But then I looked at Insurance quotes and saw it was going to be almost 5G's a year for insurance, so then I said to myself why not check out the corvette's now that the C5' are cheap I quoted it on Insurance and it came out to be like 3558.48 a year so I am like that sounds a little bit better. So as I am searching and searching and looking up info, I said to myself Id be better off with this, because it's cheaper on insurance etc. But then as I searching I come across the idea of a 4th gen Camaro, i have looked into the camaro before hand also, this could be even cheaper, and I though of the idea of building a motor possibly an LSX motor, Now as i was looking at Gm performance site i see there gonna be coming out with two new LSX engine blocks built, the LSX376 and the LSX454, not sure which route to go, I though about just buying the bare block and starting from scratch, what parts are transferable from the LS1 or LS6 or LS2. Now their is also the Idea of swapping in a LS7 but then again I could always swap in the LSX motor like i stated before. what route would you guys go, if you have to pick. I am open to suggestion's

Any parts from and LS1or LS6 are interchangable.External parts from the iron block LQ4 and LQ9 willbolt up to the LS1(covers,acc brackets,ect.). LS2and LS7 parts as well as LS3 parts are similar to each other but will not work on LS1s.

If I were you I would build a motor from an LQ4/LQ9 block. The block is about $300 compared to $2000+machine work of the LSXblock. Ofcourse you can build the LSX to 454ci and the LQ4 can be 416ci or a little bigger.Bottom line is the LSX block is made to handle up to 2500hp, building a 600hp LSX is kind of a waste IMO.

Rather than buy a built motor I think you would be better off having a reputable shop build you one. If you find the right shop you will get away with more power for less money.

Lots of info on this site to answer any questions you have.

Yea i was surprised about the vette.

anyhow I know if i do this swap I am gonna have to buy a Tranny, I know for a fact the stock camaro tranny will not hold up with this. and the driveshaft will probably snap in half, so that mean's Iam probably gonna have to go aluminum on that one. Plus I am probably gonna put new gear's in. please be aware this will still be a street driven car. Those Tremec make tranny's for the Camaro, i know they come stock on Zo6's, not sure about the camaro's gotta look that one up, also I am not gonna be building this motor for quite sometime I may see what the Ls1 can do, I am looking at a early Camaro in the 4th gen range, possibly 94-98, I believe the 93-97's had the Lt1's correct then the 98-02 had the LS1? ill have to double check in the meantime I am gonna search around and see what i can find.
