Default New guy on the board

Greetings,

I've recently acquired a 98 Z28 1LE. I say I'm an idiot because I'm new to LS1s and bought a car with a fair amount of modifications done to it. In over my head? Absolutely. Taking it slow and trying to learn things the right way? Damn straight.

I'm formerly from the DSM crowd. I was never a ricer and hated those ******* just as much as you do, so don't even think about it. I respect fast cars, I don't care who made the stock vehicle. Right now my ride is a Z28, so I'm out looking to learn about this wonderful deathmobile.

In my home forum, a thread like this is a sure fire way to get flamed, picked on, and torn to shreds. Be my guest. I'll deal with it.

(guess I'm just being lazy today and posting the same new guy thread at a few forums )

I'll just lazily post what was in the sale listing.

MTI Stage II heads with titanium retainers
MTI X1 Cam
LS6 intake
FasToys Ram Air Kit with K&N Filter
FLP Full Length Headers with high flow cats and off-road pipes
Borla Catback exhaust
NGK TR-5 Spark Plugs
160 degree Thermostat
MTI Powerduct
Pro 5.0 shifter
Ported/Polished Throttle body
Underdrive Pulleys
Z06 Clutch/Pressure plate
3.73 gears
T/A Rear end cover
Slotted Front Rotors, new pads all around
Eibach Springs
Bilstein Shocks
BMR Subframe Connectors
BMR Lower Control Arms
Skip Shift
LS1 Edit
ZR1 Wheels (17x9.5 frt, 17x11 rear)
Sumitomo Tires (275/40 frt, 315/35 rear)

The last dyno for this beast (before the new air kit, removal of cats, muffler not bypassed) puts it at 423 whp. The guy I bought it from estimates it's at about 440-445 whp as it is. Go figure I'm being REAL careful with it as I learn.

Very nice list of mods. Must be nice buying a car capable of low 11's without putting anything into it.

Here's what happened to my Talon (pic of my 2g, AWD ). Some uninsured moron ran a red light as I was making a left turn. He's 100% at fault and got cited, and I'm lucky to have had full coverage.

There's an up side and down side. My DSM was my daily driver; THIS car is not meant to be a daily driver. It's fun as hell to drive (just the looks I get from people because of the obnoxiously loud exhaust is great ), but this car is going to "toy" status when I can afford to get a beater to put lots of miles on since my trip to work is 60 miles round trip.

Ya I'd agree the only worry you might have is that Z06 clutch, hows it holding?
Mine wouldn't take it.

That's it alright. I went through some shenanigans to secure the car.

Actually, that TSI was going up to Magnus in July for an overhaul. Ironically enough, mid-11s is what I was shooting for.

Oh well, got me a new toy.

Just thought I drop by to say that I'm another DSM to F-body convert. My GS-T was pretty beat up so I decided to get rid of it before it lost all of it's value. Were you going to do the 2.4 from magnus? I keep telling my brother he needs to turbo the 2.4 in his 2000.

Is that borla an adjustable cat-back? I'd swap it out to a quieter setting if it is. You shouldn't have any problem daily driving that beast You really got a sweet ride without all the hard work and sweat of modifying. DSMS can be quick.. nothing but respect here.

Peace,
