Default New Guy!

Hello my name is Matt and im form Alton,IL. My wife and i having owned a 05 Comp G since new im no stranger to Grand Prixs. After owning a WRX for the last four years and also another baby on the way i needed a change and a larger vehicle. After several weeks of test drives i finally came upon an 06 GXP in Dark Cherry with only 30,xxx miles. After the first drive i was hooked! So i picked her up last Saturday. I am loving this car and having owned many performance vehicles over the years i must say this vehicle is a great bargain for a fast and comfortable family car. So now i must begin the mod quest! Im looking for just minor mods to make a little more noise (not real loud) and to optimize the cars overall performance. So what do i buy? Thankyou and i look forward to chatting with you all.

Welcome! There is not much you can mod to these cars with bolt ons. Your pretty much SOL. Exhaust, intake, tunes, headers, and a few other tidbit is it. Everything else is still in question.

Yeah i was thinking of a trans cooler to start. Does the shift kit help extend the life of this trans? I know its a weak link on these car. Yes i was suprised to see such lows miles. The car was very well cared for. Inside and out looks close to new. I will post some pics soon. I was thinking after the cooler maybe a tune and an intake of some sort. Not sure if im gonna do exhaust or not seeing as how im gonna have 2 little ones in the back often.

i would say installa cutout on the stock exhaust so when you by yourself open her up and have some fun, then when the young ones are with you close it up and will be quiet

My daughter loves the V8 sound and rumble from the cut out situated right below the passenger side rear door. Mines a manual cutout but its nice to go into stealth mode sometimes

Welcome! I wasnt too fond of the DCM color when I first purchased mine, but it's definitely grown on me (it was the only GXP I could find within a 100 mile radius at the time I was shopping).
Mods are out there, cold air kits, only 1 brand of headers; Doug Thorley, cat-back exhausts, roller-rockers, and now intake swaps are catching on. And definitely throw a custom tune on it, well worth the money.
