Default finally jumped ship..

well I picked up a 98 Z28 yesterday.. Had a 2000 Mustang GT a while ago with a 4v swap then got a 2000 Tahoe.. traded the hoe for the 98 yesterday.. so far I am love with this car..

The previous owner wasn't to car savvy but its got z06 chrome wheels, SS trunk-lid, exhaust (just cat-back) cant remember the name he said.

The interior is brand new.. new foam, new leather, new dash, console, everything.. I love it..

The car is lowered about an inch or two maybe, just enough to look decent.. as for suspension I know it has sub-frame connectors but his ad just said upgraded suspension.. haven't gone down and really check it out yet..

Only flaw is the front end.. I need to buy headlights (black housing, but not tinted on the outside of the lens) where can I get those? and a grill.. It has a trailer hitch hole behind the plastic grill piece.

Here's some pictures (cell phone crap)

I dont know jack about these cars but I can't wait to feed the mod bug.

rebuilt T56 with 7k (including clutch and flywheel)

141k on motor.. but it has no motor mods at all, and oil has been done every 3-5k so.. im fine with the higher mileage..

as for price.. I traded a 2000 (00-06 style) Tahoe with clear issues on the hood, it needed tires bad also.. so i think I made out great..

MM is full of ******* kids dude.. but yeah i was.. under "stephen4036" i was on SVTP..

the swap wasnt to bad.. yours is a 2000, so its an 8 bolt crank.. which is good... 99/00 were 8 and 01-04 was 6.. so when you do the swap your clutch and fly wheel will bolt back up. I did a 98 teksid swap.. I got it from oil pan to intake so.. i had everything.. i never disconnected an AC line either.. just unbolted it then bolted it back on the 4v motor.. if you actually do the swap send me a pm and i can tell you all the little **** and wiring you gotta do.

and whats an SLP bowtie? i have the little grill piece but its all faded and gross and broke two of the little tabs that grill snaps into..

do you have a link to this slp bowtie grill?

LS1s come with the T56 transmission, so I say go with the pro 5.0. That's what I like to roll with anyway.

Welcome.
I had a few stangs myself (1965 289ci coupe, 87' 5.0 Cobra(hatch), 90' (coupe not hatch with a 306ci (this one had lots of mods), and a 1999' Cobra 4.6 (very soft car).
My favourite to drive hands down was the 1990 coupe, such a light weight car and thats what i miss...
Ive been with my 99 TransAm Firehawk for 10 years now and it has been an amazing car.

I notice you have a 'wisper' high flow air lid (+9 RWHP).

If you will be launching or playing hard then you will want to read articles on the clutch system and more specifically and get a Tick master cylinder. CTS, Vette, GTO, Camaro's, and TA's all have the same **** Hydraulic system.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...-write-up.html

These cars have lots of potential for not a lot of money just like the stangs. The LS1 can rev too, I believe the factory limiter is 6250rpm.

My personal Recommendations
- flush and bleed brakes by machine
- Flush and bleed clutch system and use DOT 4.
- Don't start a roll race much under 4000rpm if possible.
- Get some yellow SA Koni's all round
- Hawk brake pads are something to keep in mind when you need them (I love the auto X ones best ever).
- SFC's and anti sway bars will make a z28 feel nice and tight
- Make sure you have a minimum 3.42 rear end (up to 4.10ish)
- The CAM is the biggest bottle-neck (custom grind to your entire final setup then dyno tune)
- UD crank pulley but not the ASP brand (unless they are better now)
- 160* thermo with fan tune is good to have when its warm out.
