2000 Camaro SS VATS and IBCM bypass...
Hi,
This year has been particularly rough on me because my SS was broken into twice, the ignition and IBCM chopped up, and I had this all fixed recently.
Just when I thought things were back to normal, I think my IBCM is causing me problems again. I have no way of being 100% sure that it is the IBCM but It seems that way.
When I go to start the car, it hesitates for maybe three seconds and the locks flicker and then it starts sometimes when I hold the key in the starter engage position. Then sometimes it starts perfect... until today when it finally died and does not engage at all. Pure silence is all I hear.
Any ideas on how to get around spending $335 on a new IBCM would be helpful.

Also, I am talking with a mechanic who is an expert in steering column and ignition issues about installing a classic style ignition and ditching the chipped key and wiring it all up like a classic car. Would the above be a solution to this? I want to completely remove the IBCM...

Ok got an update for you guys... Turned out to be the clutch safety switch... Part number 14094368... Cost $15 at the GM dealer... and five minutes and a back ache to install...
Thanks for all the help...
