Hi everyone, a little more in depth and history of my Ride..
I have a one owner 1997 Firebird 3.8II Stock W68/Y87 package. I presume it's a rare car to see on the road, as in all 14 years I have had Her I have only seen 4 cars just like Her...but only one was Brite Red. I have seen a white, a black, a blue and another Red one just like mine.. It turns heads every where I go. Fun daily driver for 14 years and counting.
Bought it and drove it off the show room floor with 17 miles under her dress. Because of the fact that She is a 6 banger, My wife and I christened Her "Amanda". She is not and has never been a racer. If it Has spun Her tires more that 5 times in Her life is WAY too many. I treated Her kindly since the beginning and until recently, say 2 months.. I replace Her original muffler, so She has a certain louder growl to Her malevolent Prrr.. I get a lot of compliments per week, so it's definitely an attention *****! Like I said, I have never raced Her and there have been more than a few times in those 14 years that people wanted too... I have a plaque I won for "Peoples Choice Award" from Hooters Monthly Car Show. It's my Pride and Joy and will not ever part with. She turns faces on a daily basis and now with Her new look and shades.. She's gotten more nods and thumbs up of approval as I drive the streets.
She had never had Her windows tinted, so after 14.5 years later, I finally gave Her some tinted windows..
Like I mentioned in my original post.. Ever since I drove it off the showroom floor, I have yet to see more than 4 cars just like mine in the streets or highways. Even if you google 1997 Pontiac Firebird Convertible W68, you will get not a single one on google records.. but mine and this one http://www.cardomain.com/ride/232059...ntiac-firebird
Can anyone chime in and tell me(with photographic evidence if possible) where you saw one.. Another thing..
Is there a way to find out, How many of this precise configuration were produced in 1997?
Thanks!

I have a black 1997 Firebird Convertible 3.8II Stock W68 package. It has just under 68,000 miles on it. I wish I had better news of her performance as she has been giving me trouble ever since I bought her about three months ago. Still trying to diagnose engine issues. I am somehow missing the passenger side front bumper fascia for her, it was there when I bought it, but disappeared. I can't find a replacement anywhere on the internet. Do you have any suggestions?
I hope to have her looking as good as yours soon. Thanks for showing, it looks great.

Well, I spun a main bearing.. need a overhaul.. So, I will set it on blocks and store it for the next 5 years.. There's no reason to rebuild the engine now since my eldest son is only going on 13 and He has still yet to learn how to drive. Maybe in the next 5 years He'll take possession of Her and I will then have it rebuild and He can paint and customize as per His liking...
Happy Thanksgiving to All!
