Default hello,looking for ls1

Hello,
I`m new here and would like to share some about my futuure project. Long story short, I have a 76 TA 4 Sp in my garage that I`ve owned since high school (28yrs). It has not been on the road for a long time and it is time to change that.

Last year I bought a 05 corvette roadster and fell in love with the motor. So, I am going to swap in a ls1 into the TA. I`m going to keep the super t10 4 speed to keep the cost down. Done my research and starting to gather parts.

Anybody know where to buy a good used complete ls1? Looking for something with say 80,000 miles or less.

Thanks and good luck with your project.

Bill

I found mine in a wrecking yard. It's out of a 2002 camaro and it had 80,000 miles on it. Just keep checking the wrecking yards and usually you can find a pretty decent deal. Oh, I paid $1,700 for mine.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I`ve checked around here and found nothing. I will keep checking though. I checked at car-parts.com and waiting to hear back from a couple yards.

Well, I found my motor localy. It is a complete pull out motor from a 04 vette with 61,000 miles. I`m excited to get started but got many more parts to buy. BTW I had to pay $2,800 but it is all there and good miles.

Thanks,
Well when I got the car it was already tubbed and stripped for a race car (it still has the orginal glass, pristine dash and only 29K miles ) converted in 1978!
It has a high-strung. 14:1 motor that burns C-16 ($15/gal).
Should have put a reliable, pumpgas friendly LSX in it!
No worries, it's a blast and gets lots of attention.

I bet it does get alot of attention.

I have debated for years the direction to go with mine. Since I do not have # matching trans or rearend I figured a good reliable lsx would be a fun project and make a nice cruising car. Want to keep pretty much stock look with nothing to wild.
