Just registered after reading on and off for years. My car history:
1991 Ford Escort 3 speed auto 88 horsepower 1.9L...unbelievably slow but it took a lot of beatings
1987 IROCZ 5.0 TPI Auto
1995 Mazda 626 5MT
1994 Z28 6MT
1995 Trans Am 6MT
2002 Maxima SE 6MT
2009 Civic Si (obviously 6MT)
2010 Mazdaspeed3 6MT

Figured I'd register since I'm poking around the idea of picking up an LSx powered car...

LT4 C4, CTS-V (first gen) or a C5 of some sort...I'd probably prefer a Z06 but I do plan to road race the car a few times a year and parts/tires for the Z06 are getting expensive and hard to find.

6MT is a must

I'm wondering if a regular C5 is the way to go, I'd have more color selections, it would be cheaper, can cam it and when its time for shocks put on better shocks...etc...

I'll probably make a thread in the C5 section about what I can realistically expect with cam + bolt ons an dmaybe an intake...would like to be somewhere in the 400 rwhp area and keep it driveable.

edit: being in OK, who does your engine work for you? that would be good to know before I buy a car

XP Racing in Oklahoma City did most of the installs on my Corvette. C5 sounds like a good base to work from. A cammed LS1 vette should get you 400 no problem and have good street manners with a decent tune. When I had my cam only 99 TA, it hit 401 with the Texas Speed Torquer v2 camshaft.

Good to know, I'm going to post in the LS1 forum this morning with some questions (I'm sure some have been asked a lot).

I had a 1995 Trans Am, believe it or not it was the best used car I've ever owned. I did two things outside of normal maintenance. I had a water pump fail at about 80k miles and then I had a wheel speed sensor fail at 101k miles. Otherwise I had 3.5 years and 50k miles of zero trouble out of that car.
