I've always had a fascination with Chevy V8s but never had the opportunity to work on one. I'm signing up so I can do some research on a build that I've been dreaming up in my head (5.3L powered Datsun 240z). I like the 5.3 because its relatively inexpesive and I like the Datsun because its light. I plan on auto-crossing this once in a blue moon when I'm done. In the meanwhile, I'm working on getting my own place--preferably one with a garage--so I can get this project started.

A little about myself.... I'm a UCSB alumni and work at UCLA as an energy engineer. I've been there for the past 3 years and am itching to get my hands dirty with a little grease. Currently my life is consumed with studying for the PE exam but once that's done I would really like to tear down a Chevy V8 (possibly a 5.3) and put it back together. Any ideas how i might be able to get a little experience with this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I look forward to reading/drooling over all your cool projects.

Cheers,

Shawn
