Looking to get my first LS1 F body
Hello.
Greg from Ohio here.
I am a former 1986/1987 turbo buick guy. Had 7 of them over the years. Most of them I daily drove and got them into the low 12's in the 1/4 mile. Wish now that I had kept one.....lol. Turbo buicks, even a driver, are way out of reach $$ wise for me.
I have a 2001 chevy 4x4 truck and that little 5.3 LS does pretty good....I put a cheap cold air intake on it, a better exhaust, and had a performance tune put on it. So now I am an LS fan.
SO.....I just have to find me a car now. Probably will be a higher mileage "driver" with little to no mods. Seems to be a number of 2000 and 2001's in my price range in my area. Decisions decisions.
From what I have seen in the forums, the LS group is full of nice, knowledgeable guys who are fairly friendly.....a lot like the buick guys I used to interact with.
The 1999 to 2002 LS1 f bodies seem to be amazing cars (never been in or drove one yet). I am excited to grab a low end driver and tinker with it.
Thanks in advance to everyone.

What part of Ohio? I'm amassing a crowd of LS guys to take over the world lol.
You can always grab an 80s G-body, paint it black, and drop an LS in it. I did this same swap earlier this year. Its his daily driver.

LS G body
Funny you should say that.
A lot of the hardcore buick turbo guys wound up pulling their turbo sixes and sticking LS engines in....with one or two turbos on it of course. And of course they kept their original turbo six motors stored in case they ever want to go back to stock to sell it.
I would do that with an old G body, but with my so so health and space to work on cars it would just be too much for me.
I am looking at finding a higher mileage 1999 to 2002 F body auto that I can tinker with.
Not sure if getting a 1999/2000 is better cause the cam is bigger and putting on LS6 intake OR getting a 2001 that already has LS6 BUT smaller cam.
I am talking about stock vehicles.

I wasn't aware of that. I have read that they used LS6 blocks for 01+ F-bodies. They never specified only a small percentage. Good info.
