Greetings: Winter Project
I have a 2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, have had car for 11 years and finally made the decision to install cam this past October. Car had full bolt on’s before cam install:
- kook’s 1 7/8 long tube headers
- kook’s off road y-pipe
- magnaflow catback system
- SLP Lid with smooth bellows
Spent 2 years collecting parts and finally pulled the trigger on upgrading the car to the next stage. Car had 159,000 miles on the clock before upgrades were made. Below is a list of parts collected.
- installed tick SNS cam stage 2
- double roller timing chain
- self ported 241 cylinder heads (ARP head bolts) milled down .025”.
- LS6 Intake
- LS7 lifters
- stock rocker arms with brass bushing upgrade
- tick 7.375” pushrods
- new oil pump (self ported to increase flow)
- summit racing 25% underdrive harmonic balancer with ARP bolt.
- stock GM gaskets for cam swap ( front cover, crank seal, head gaskets/seals, water pump, valve cover bolt grommets)
-
Since I was going to do all this work I made decision to postpone the install and get the rest of the parts to do a full engine rebuild to ensure reliability. I collected the remaining parts for a full rebuild.
- Mahle piston rings
- gaskets ( oil pan gasket, rear cover gasket/seal, pilot bronze bushing, valve cover gasket, knock sensor gaskets
- ARP rod bolts
- king crank and rod bearings
- Sac city corvette oil billet barbell and oil pickup tube hold down bolt
- tick clutch speed bleeding kit
- kook’s 1 7/8 long tube headers
- kook’s off road y-pipe
- magnaflow catback system
- SLP Lid with smooth bellows

Welcome to LS1Tech! Looks like you’ve been busy with the car. Where in Ga. are you?
