Default New to LS1Tech

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. Hoping to get some help and info from people that are more knowledgeable then me, that's not much of a test, on a LS project I've started. I have a 67 Chevelle that I'm putting a LS1 backed up with a 4L60e tranny. Any and all information would be appreciated. I'm trying to find some information al what oil pan I need to use since most articles I've read say the oil pan that came on the engine will hit the cross member but say what oil pan should be used to replace it. Anyone that has been that road and would like to share their experience I'm here to listen. Look forward to getting to know you guys and if any of you are in the Atlanta area give me a shout, this is my first LS swap so be gentle with me!

Welcome to LS1Tech! I’m just above the ATL in Dawsonville. You will want to use the Holley pan. If you haven’t bought anything yet, go ahead and get all of their swap components, to work as a unit. No surprises and great tech support if you need it. I made everything myself for my 70’ but I’m just weird like that. I run the 302-1 pan. Nice looking car sir!

Hey Scott, I'm Roger, I'll check into getting one of those oil pans from Holley. Unfortunately I have already gotten a set of motor mounts and a LS swap gas tank kit from CCP. So I kind of jumped the gun before I started seeing some of these kits that are available. I've found an article from May of last year by Hot Rod that another member had suggested a few months back but I wasn't able to find it then. Right now I'm looking for the oil pan, I think I'm going with the Holley 302-1 also and a reasonably priced set of long tube headers, if that exist. Thanks for the compliment on the car, it's getting there. I'm wanting to keep the outside and interior original to the year but want a dependable drive train. It wasn't a SS, or white or had a vinyl top when I got it.
I like that silver 70, nice, sounds like you've built a monster!! Once I get mine on the road I'll have to ride up to Dawsonville for a show or cruise in. I've attended a couple shows up that way a few years back at that car museum there. I had a 68 Camaro convertible that I went a little crazy on and ended up selling it about a year ago, the Chevelle was part of the deal. I'm still kicking myself for selling it. I had that car for over 10 years. Long story, but like a lot of other guys I'm regretting it now. I appreciate your help.

Yeah, I lived in Norcross for a couple years in the late 90's then moved to Marietta for a year or so and then bought a house up here in Woodstock in 93. Hwy 92 was a two lane road and if we wanted anything we went to Roswell to get it. Really wasn't that much around here then. I remember when 575 was being built, hell I remember when 75 was being built we use to race on it off of Jimmy Carter. All that seems like yesterday, funny how time flies as you get older. I have a small sign installation and service company here in Woodstock to pay the bills. Good to get to know you Scoot. I'm sure our paths will cross sooner or later fooling with these old cars!

Awesome man. I have a friend that went to work at a sign shop in TheWood in 97’ish. That shop dealt a lot in neon stuff. It was right off of 5 in downtown, behind the main strip, by Bass Electric.
Nice to know you as well Roger. Send me a PM if you ever need anything.

Couple questions when you get a minute, first off how do you post a new thread on here? I've read their FAQ and see where it says to click to start one off of another thread but I'm yet to find it anywhere. The question I was wanting to post concerned mating the 4L60e to this LS1 that came out of a vette. It isn't the tranny that came out of the vette because I would have had to buy the tail section and an adapter, from what I've read. So I got a normal 4L60e out of the same year Yukon to use. I'm wondering what length bolts I'll need to attach the flex plate to the engine. Also is the tranny controlled by the ECM that controls the engine or does it have its own ECM?

I would try the LS1 pan first, no use spending 300 plus bucks for a pan that is about the same dimensions. The Holley pan is a great replacement for the truck pans,GTO, etc. You might want to give the ICT Billet swap stuff a look to. Good luck, KILLER car

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely try it before I spend the bucks on a new pan. Still trying to get some advice on the wiring harness for this engine, do I need to get a stand alone wiring harness? Does it plug into the factory harness to make it work or can the factory harness be made work on its own and if so how? And lastly, is there a separate ECM for the transmission or will the ECM that came with the engine also control the transmission?? Appreciate all of y'alls help with this.
