New Enough - 6 Months Late Intro
Hi All,
Joined up about 6 months ago, finally getting around to the introduction. I spent a fair amount of time coming & going, reading and learning from older posts, answering questions that I would come up with. Came back to learn even more now that I've decided to move forward with the modifications I've been contemplating. Really, it came down to finding a good deal on the engine I was considering which translated into "well, here we go..."
Working with a '69 Camaro SS convertible. When I bought the car, it had "mostly" been restored. A fair amount of paperwork says it's an SS but I'm not entirely sure it's a true SS, to be honest. Some things on the car match up alluding to it being an SS, some things don't. Which doesn't really surprise me since I've already redone quite a few things on this car that weren't done very well by who did the restoration. No big deal, though, since I enjoy the work (just not the extra money spent on things supposed to be done). She came with a SBC, 3-spd auto, fuel injection, 4 wheel power discs and a handful of other extra things here and there. She's been great to drive around. My two young daughters love cruising in it with the top down.
But now it's going to change. The intention is to swap out that 350 & 3spd for an LS2 with a 4L65E or 4L80E (haven't decided on which one yet). Likely use the Holley Terminator X Max and their Pro Dash. Pretty sure I'm going to put a cam in it but haven't fully decided on that one yet either. It's still going to be a regular cruiser and maybe a little street fun, no track time or anything. I've got a laundry list of stuff to source before I tear into anything. No real timeline, either. Although, it'd be nice to have her as close to done as possible before next winter rolls around.
Anyways, that's what brought me back to the forums. The vast combined knowledge from members in the forum world is invaluable. Not sure how much I can legitimately contribute to others since I'm on the new side of things, but I can certainly give it the 'ol college try. Thanks!
