I have finally found my dream truck after years of looking. It is a 02 single cab short bed 4.8 5 speed. I live in central Florida and I am a mechanic by trade. I am here to learn more about the ls platform and to get opinions what the next best steps should be. Thank you in advance for helping newbies like me.

The truck came with a 4.8. Would it be wiser to rebuild the 4.8 (bearings, gaskets, cam kit etc) or buy a 5.3 long block off summit that is supposed to be 450hp?
