Default First time posting, first time asking for help.

Hey everyone! I just joined here because I wanted some more direct help for my car. This is my first LS1 it is a 2002 Camaro SS. It has a custom tune, long tube headers, ls6 intake, 3.73 differential, and not much else. The person I bought it from said that they had it tuned to make around 375 horsepower and I basically want to add to that. My plan at the moment is to put heads and a cam but I am not a mechanic. I can do basic things but I am very new to this world of DIY engine modification and would hate to ruin this car. My problem is I am in southeast florida and can’t find any mechanics who specialize in LS based engines. I’m very worried about getting taken advantage of basically and was wondering if anybody knows a shop down here that would be willing to tune/install/assist with which parts I should buy in which combination. I basically just need some guidance on where to go with my build. I’d be willing to do it myself, but again still very new.

my plan was to buy ported 243 heads that I saw on Facebook marketplace and the TSP 228/228 cam and basically try to do a kind of top end rebuild. I believe one of my rockers is bent or I have a header tick of some kind so eventually I would need to fix and give some attention to the valve covers anyways. But I’d like to have some guidance and direction. I’m willing to drive for a shop, but again ideally near Miami.

Sorry if this is sort of a bad way to format a post/if this was the wrong location to post.

thanks for reading! (Pic related)

It's possible you have an exhaust gasket leak. I'd suggest the TSP 228/232 cam if they still make it. Ported 243 are a good choice.

I was running the 228r in my 5.3 for a few years. I liked it a lot. Sounded good and drove nice too

Hi, I would call Dave Hartz@Water Thunder : 321-508-5316.
He has assembled MANY LS engines for use in Gator Chasers.

228 TSP is a good street cam. I have the TSP Texas Giant in my 408 with a good tune it runs great on the street. I am hearing good things about this new cam.
