Hello everyone. I am so very happy to be new part of your community. I am brand new to the LS1 experience. I recently purchased a 65k mile 2002 Z28 A4 convertible. The stock performance of this machine is VERY impressive to say the least! The only issue it had was wheelhop. I say had because of the countless recommendations on this site to go with Koni STR.T shocks she now easily lays down silky smooth road stripes. In addition to the new shocks I filled the rear end up with Amsoil Severe Duty 75W-90 gear oil and added a T/A Performance girdle. The car won't be driven hard very often but I figured the 7.5" rear could use a little extra help. Unfortunately the top down season here in Indiana is all but over so it's time to tuck her away until springtime. Thanks again for the excellent forum and Happy Motoring! 😎
I would suggest replacing the rubber bushing on trailing arms AND the block up by the transmission. That trans block is probably trash that can cause wheel hop. Changing out the rear busing on the OEM arms is a great improvement on handling, as well as wheel hop.
I put 3.73 gears and posi in a V6 firebird and had bad wheel hop. The poly bushing fixed it with no new parts, just the bushings in stock locations. Arms and trans. V6 would rocket off leaving posi rubber. It was a really fun daily driver. 4:11 would be more fun, but I had to drive highway half hour to get to work. Don't forget to get the CPU reprogrammed for the new gear ratio otherwise speedo will be wrong.
