Default New to the LS World

Hello from NW Arkansas. I recently purchased a Foxbody with a turbo'd 6.0 LS that's been "built". Currently setup for drag racing only on methonol. The car had a 5.3 in it with 88 mm turbo and had been 4.8s in the 1/8. With the 6.0 and the weight out of it, seller said it should go faster. For what it's worth, when I was in HS, I had a 93 Z28 camaro, 6 speed. Then had a 2004 Silverado SS that had the 6.0 in it. From there, I didn't get back into the HP scene until I got a Hellcat about 4 years ago. I did pretty much all of the FBO, but the 6 speed always worked against me at the dragstrip. To get it to go where I want it to be, I was looking at spending $10K on tranny, $30K on long block and another $10K on turbo setup. Or, I could do what I did, buy a car already setup for racing and just go fast. I have a dyno tune appointment on 1/10 to give it a good going through and see what it'll do. Is this Forum a good place to discuss LS swapped Foxbody's? I am totally new to the LS world. If I'm in the wrong place, please point me to where I need to be. I was a hater on the Foxbody's for such a long time. I think it was really just envy that they could go fast and do it on a budget. Reality set in and I'm not getting any younger.

Yes, perfect place to discuss your car. Check out the conversions and swaps section, others have built Fox body cars and you'll find a lot of info there. I may eventually build a Fox myself, as I know my turbo 6 speed Firebird is going to be difficult to make as quick as I'd like. Welcome to the site!

The video is when the car was 3200 lbs with 5.3. Weight is now out of the car and a built 6.0 was installed in place of 5.3 that got hurt.

Thanks man. Ill get more videos and time slips once I get it on the track. I want to get it on the dyno for a tune and then take it to a shop and really just go through it structurally and make sure all safeties are working. Also thinking about adding fire suppression system.

Im shooting for 1100 hp on the dyno. Seller says it should hit that no problem. We shall see. 01/10/25

The 1/10 date got moved to the right due to the 6-10" of snow that we had. Moved to 1/24.

What coil dwell do you run ?

Default Dyno pull

I made it to the dyno today. I was a little freaked out when I pulled it off the trailer. I had oil leaking down the back side of the oil pan. Come to find out, the rear main seal had shrunk up a little with the cold. Ive had the car outside for the last week. We have had some single digit temps and this morning, the 2 hr drive was single digits. Once we got my car warmed up, that stopped leaking.

Boost sensor was bad. Had to replace that. Oxygen sensor was bad. Had to replace that. Then lightened up the springs in the boost gate. I do have CO2 to run on the dome. Then we installed a new set of plugs. Had a boost fitting leaking. Got that fixed.

With my motor setup, we want to keep it to under 1300 hp. The limiting da tor today was my injectors. Final pull they were ripping 84% duty cycle. The motor has mlx head gaskets, so we didnt feel great about hitting it with too much boost.

Current setup - stock block 6.0. Forged internals, Siemens Deka 220s injectors, prc heads, 88mm turbo, methanol. Last pass was 25 psi. Turbo would probably make it to 1300hp.

Last pull: 1,120.2hp - 1202.1ft/lb


I ordered a set of billet atomizer 550 pph to put in it. I am changing to a 98mm promod turbo and having a set of amphena head gaskets installed.

My plan is to run this setup for the most of this season. Then out goes the 6.0 and in goes a 427 dart block, Brodix heads that is capable of 2000hp.
