new new to the board. yes im a 5.0 owner, but come tax return time that will change. just building up my credit a bit so i can get a real car (ls1 car). so dont hate on me too much 
gotten my *** kicked by too many ls1's so finally i just said screw it.
just here to learn as much as i can before i buy one and start building it.

I know what it feels like to get killed by LS1's for so long, used to have a basically stock LT1

If I had to do it all over again... I would have bought an LS1 car used that already had some decent mods done to it. Make the previous owner eat the cost of all those upgrades.
Good luck with your search, and you may want to check here for LS1 cars for sale because I've seen some killer deals on some very fast cars.

Welcome. This is by far the best LS1 site available. Don't be fooled by that other place 
. I ran a 5.0 before. He was obviously modded. Had exhaust and a cam at least because he was loping hard.. I had a cutout at the time and I felt no disappointment when I lost beacuse I was in 4th gear doing sixty punches with him. I didn't downshift because I hadn't had the car long and was still learning how to 
a stick. Didn't want to drop too low and screw myself over. I guess I could have at least hung with him. I love 5.0's beacuse you never know what you gonna get when you run one.

make sure you check out jrp's stickies aswell i already did, and it answerd a ton of questions before i could even ask them.
thats the way it is for me with ls1's. i figure that a cammin 5.0 isnt that quik without heads & intake so i based that on the ls1's as well but definetly learned from that mistake.
i love the 5.0's and all, but i'v had quite a few now and im just starting to get bored of em.

i had a 92lx vert w/ an strim on it w/ stock pullies w/ stock heads/intake/cam and went 11.7@120 mph. Looked stock, sounded almost stock (had the SQ blower) and was setup to road race. The ls1 is a whole nother beast, and after all my mustang years, i must say I love the ls1 and the way its designed w/ o rings, and everything else making it come apart and go back together easily w/o buying new gaskets foreverything always.
