I was amazed also. But the insurance agent told us that the truck can cause more damage than the Z28 so they were going to charge about $180.00 more every six months for the truck.

It helps big time that he can be insured on the parents insurance plan (we have multiple discounts). Also, since the car is paid for no comp or collision needed, liability only.

Hope that helps explain it

Rollin Black, your a pretty cool dad. Im young too and my 1st car was a 99 Z, im also blessed with a dad who loves cars. I got him to buy a 99 Trans Am and he cant wait to put more mods on it. Its awesome to see other father and son car lovers, but most of all its good to see a father who trusts his kid with a 300+hp LS1 car, im sure he will respect his car as much as I have to my car.

I'm bet that was only based on analysis of the stock power level though.

I'd be willing to bet a Z28 at 190mph will best the truck in the damage department.

Damn, you must have had a butt load of tickets. I only paid 160/6mos for my 2000 WS6 and around 400/6mos for my truck.

Man, my dad--leave it stock! I dont know how many debates we have had over the years about whether or not a mod would screw something up. Now he just says, you know more about it, go ahead.

Congrats on the car man 16 and in a Z28=sweet. I remember back in the day (four years ago) I was in my 69 Chevelle, and my buddy had his 3rd gen Z28....good times, lots of burnouts, racing, and overall ruckussing!!! Course, he totaled the Z, and my chevelle just sits for the moment. Would probably be running, however, I got this weird bite from a bug called mod?.....anyone want to talk me into buying some Kooks? lol just havent decided yet....

umm my first car was a 3.8 t-bird. This was how i found out that aode do not like a 125 shot. also that the stock half shafts will not hold up to stickys.
But I got smart and bought a chevy and im very happy with my 301 RWHP 2000 silverado with just a few mods. the motor is a 5.3L. ne way i whish my rents were as cool as urs when i was 16 i prolly wouldnt have owned a truck and prolly had a quick Z or SS. congrats on on the car though. didn't mean to Hi-jack the thread

I'm glad you cleared that up cause i was stripping a gear trying to figure that one out. I'm 22 and my full coverage is 130 a month. which isn't bad but i went from my 88 s10 blazer at 38 a month to 127.87 for my Z28. btw nice car man. you need a lot more experience before you start modding that thing IMO. these ls1s are bad *** stock and if you don't know how to drive it you'll be in the parts section with a totaled car on your hands. i wouldn't get into the motor for a while. maybe just some exhaust and a shifter and some simple **** like that. anyways just be safe and have fun.

Wow nice ride and congrats. Welcome, I remeber it like yesterday since im only 18. I was just making my first post on www.nloc.net a lightning website. i got my perfect 28,000 mile 93 Ford lightning with aluminum heads cam blower and exhaust. I never thought my dad would trust me with a vehicle like that. I was making payments on it though. just not like the payments I have to pay now for my car . But have fun and watch out for those damn cops

good choice for a first car!!! that's awesome your parents got it for you, leaves you more money for mods. I'm 18 and bought my 98 ws6 as a birthday gift for myself (although, i was lucky enough to find a great paying job for my age... unfortunately i had to leave it for college). Good luck with the car and have fun with it, nothing beats the adrenaline rush you get when you race!!

and the insurance thing, it kills me to think how much money i'd have for more mods if my insurance weren't 2,900 for the car for 6 months

haha, that's funny because my dad won't talk to me about my car anymore since i ordered my cam, even the guy i bought my t/a from lectured me and told me not to mod it. i feel that if you have the money and you want to do it, go ahead. oh yea, btw, i LOVE my kooks, gave me a good chunk of power, and i wouldn't have went any other way than kooks!

true that.. it feels good to be able to say this is 100% my car. I almost cried when the title came in with my name on it because I was so happy. And it will help your credit alot so you can buy even more toys in the future
