Talking NewB with 2004 Goat Here!

Well I am a NewB here obviously with a 2004 Goat Impulse Blue, black leather and an M6. I have had her for about 2 weeks and the mod bug has already bitten. This is my first real venture into the GM performance waters. I had an 88 IROC with a 305 and an 89 Formula 350 but not much is to be said about those.
I am a Ford boy at heart I have had a total of 8 stangs including my last which was a 97 Cobra which dynoed in at 456 to the wheels and an 88 GT which came in at 426 to the wheels (just to name a couple)
I just decided that I wanted something semi-comfortable but fast so I decided with the deal that I got and the reliability of the LS1 that the goat would be my best bet. Now I sit here and wonder how fast I can get this "sleeper" which I still think has the front end of a Grand Prix and the a$$ end of a sunfire on steroids!
I heard about this site on www.GMvsFord.com where I am a moderator and a lot of the guys there swear this is THE BEST LS1 tech forum so here I am checkin in!

Welcome, I converted from Stangs about 2 years ago. Looks like a good choice of LS1 packaging!! Love the impulse blue! Just curious why you didn't choose the new (err old) 05 Mustang that everyone is Raving about. I know why I wouldn't but wondered what drove your decision? Thank you!

Good call on color choice, and looks like you'll have a good time with the GM's newest toy!

Thanks for the words guys. Honestly the reason I chose the GTO was the helluva deal I got on it...and the fact that eceryone and their mother will own an 05 Mustang soon, where as the GTO is a very rare vehicle at least here in my neck of the woods.

Im all over the place.

I have owned some Zs (Lt1 and what nobody on GM vs Ford knew an LS1 too ) I recently got rid of the LS1, I sold it to a friend that was helping me work on it. We had a nice turbo project ahead of us but its not as easy and cheap as you think to slap a blower or turbo on an LS1. We dug into the motor and built it and god I can go on forever on what plans and parts we threw at it but it just started to cost to much so I'll stick to my GT. I also still own a 94 Impy SS and am lookin at a Typhoon but Im keeping my GT its the only car believe it or not that I threw a quite a bit of power at and didn't break anything so far, Im real happy with it still so.

Good luck with the GTO and again great choice with the color.

Damn Joe! I learn something new every dayum day....lol I felt the same way about my Fords, took a beating and kept going...hopefully the goat can do the same, although I am very wary of the IRS.
