Hi.
Recently, I was given the opportunity to purchase a Camaro off a friend. I like the car and all, but I have two problems with it. One, I am used to my four cylinder Volkswagen GTi 1.8T, with its incredible gas milage. The other is that I, being a homosexual, think I would look out of place in such a "butch" car. The feminine lines of my Volkswagen suit me perfectly. Let it be known, I am very aware of car erformance, I am rather car savvy. I think I am one of the few car savvy homosexuals on the planet.
If you were in my shoes, size 12(go ahead, jump to conclusions
), what would you do? BTW: Your last note is
and completely unnecessary. Can you file sexual harrassment over internet forums? I feel molested. skippytheloon is messed up... im 150% sure that a HOT CHICK will find a german car a gazillion times "hotter" than a domestic "sports car" that every other household owns/has owned

I am glad you guys are so accepting of a young homosexual male. Some other fourms threatened to ban me because of my sexual orientation. It must be a "Good Ol' Boy" thing.

Should I pick up the Camaro? I haven't actually seen it up close yet, so I have a few questions about it.
1)Are they economical muscle cars? I would hate paying out ridiculous amounts for gas. By good I mean beyond 10MPG?
2)How do they ride? I can usually tolerate a sport tuned suspension, but sometimes they're overkill.
3)Are the seats comfortable? Sometimes my rear end gets a little sore and I need something with adequate cushioning. Before Skippytheloon calls me oput again, I am an avid mountain biker and sometimes the bike seat makes me a little sore.
4)How is the clutch? Is it weak like a VW's or fairly solid?
5)Anything I should look for specificially?

1) Yes they are quite economical. I on average (93 octane dont forget) get 20city/30hwy mpg.
2) Depends on your suspension/tires. Overall the interior can be kind of noisy, especially when modded, but stock its VERY acceptable. Keep in mind though it IS a performance car.

3) Seats are quite comfy. Not for 6 hours at a time, but most trips I take are great in the Z.
4) Stock clutches are awesome, unless you abuse them. They can (again, if you take proper care) last forever.
5) hmmmmm I guess just keep in mind the mileage versus how much the car has been beat on. If you can acquire a low mileage camaro with at least minimal upkeep having been done, with proper maintence the LS1 engine should last well over 200K miles. Hope its what you want, it will certainly be a hell of a jump from any VW, and welcome to the board.

EDIT: also perhaps if you do want something a little less "butch", check out the firebird, which is generally much more rounded/curved. adios!

I wasn't going to say anything, sheesh! The ride can get a little stiff, but I like the seats and averaged about 23mpg city when mine was stock. BTW: I have one of those gel-pad seats on my mountain bike, works wonders.
