New to LS1Tech
I've been a diehard Camaro junky for the past 10 years or so. First Camaro was a bright metallic blue 91' Z28 with the HO 5.0L and 5 speed. Sweet looking car although not much for performace. It led me to experiment with domestic rice... a 93' Eagle Talon TSI AWD. Now that was a sweet car with gobs of power (after a few boost altering mods of course) though it was far less reliable than the Z which is saying something `cause the Camaro liked visiting the shop pretty frequently.
In a deperate move, I traded them both in on a new 1998 Camaro SS which I still own and absolutlely love. It's been by far the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned and still runs like new.
I'm not much into modding the car- more interested in maintaining it and keeping it "new" so I never have to restore it later on. I've been lurking on fbody.com for a while as well as this site and really have come to find this site a wealth of information. I look forward to helping out wherever I can.
Over time I've really come to admire what people can do to modify just about anything whether that be a f-body/vette or a Honda Civic. That being said, I personally don't understand why someone would intentionally buy a Civic only to spend thousands (or 10+ thousand) to make it as fast as a used F-body. It seems many people do just this today
I fully understand a 16-year old kid who gets something cheap like a Civic with the parents blessings only to then mod it to make the best of a temporary situation. That, I think, is still pretty cool. It's the mid-upper 20-somethings that spend $25k on a new Prelude and another $15-20k on engine mods/swaps and turbo systems so that they can hang with a $12,000 used LS1 I don't understand. Why not spend the $12k + $8k on mods and have twice the car for half the price?
