Default Anther New Guy. Pondering a new project for next fall

Seems like this is the place I was looking for. I'm a college student at Utah State University, going out in mech engineering. Love cars and anything mechanical for that matter

I've been into Hondas for almost 4 years now (don't hate ). Done many swaps, couple turbo cars, and now I'm into NA performance and road racing. I don't care if i can only run 14flat, I can haul *** through a corner I'm going to be selling my pristine civic at the end of the summer however to pay for my new engine
because lately I've gotten tired of hondas, kinda like I've learned all that I want to learn, so it's time to move on to some real power I've decided.

I got turned onto the LS1 RX7 idea about a year ago and have read a ton about it since, and at the end of this summer I'll finally have the funds to pick up a 3rd gen. I think they are one of the most beatiful cars produced in my era.

My goals for the car are extremely powerful, daily driven, and must handle perfectly. If it runs 11's it'l be fast enough for me for the time being, I can work on suspension and brakes from that point.

Hopefully I'll figure out what I need from this website. I've been thinking about getting an LS2 outta the new GTO but not sure if that'll be the case. Either way I want an NA beast.

Thanks and hopefully you guys can guide me along the path to a 400whp monster

what up man, glad you came to your senses. i too am a student, finance major at walsh. why would you want to put an ls1 in a rx7? an ls1 has to weigh more than that rotary, thats gonna funk your weight distribution. why not build the rotary? in any case, id just buy a vette, although i do ike 93-95 rx-7s a lot. i used to have a miata, but it was slow as *****, jsut like rx7s. plus id imagine that youd have to do a lot to get that car to handle say...450 rwhp. frame ties, beef up the trans, clutch, hydraulics, rear end, half shafts and so on. prob be cheaper to just get a vette, and it would handle with a rx7 if done right...

Sounds like a fun project and you are on the right website if you ever have any questions about the LS1! Welcome and good luck.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Is there any reputable businesses that sell LS1 dropouts?

Suprisingly the LS1 rx7 doesn't affect weight balance, it actually improves it on the FD. Hard to believe but it's been proven by many. The rotary is light, but not after you add all the twin turbo ****. Also it's rear end and axles are designed for power from the factory so they don't need to be upgraded unless you plan on dragging and running slicks etc.. I might get a Kazz or Quaife (if they make them for the rx7?) lsd eventually.

I don't want to bulid the rotary because they are unreliable, and they get worse gas mileage than the LS1 even if you are in boost alot, which I would be.
