Hey, welcome.
Good luck on your purchase. I dunno I prefer to get the car here, up North, which is strange to say but I believe you look, you will find. Especially being we have that season where yes, unfortunately we have to hibernate for a time, but the deals on these fbods or any sports car for that matter are just snatchable!!
Before Winter was over last year was when I found mine, I'm thinking with nice weather states, it may be harder to find a better deal????
Either way, welcome and good luck!!

Cause its the contrast of the two, a mean looking car, and then a girl stepping out of it? Yowch. I know alot of people will say its just for the looks, but hey, theres nothing wrong with picking a powerful car, and then wanting the looks to go with it too. If your main goal is to mod the crap out of it, and strip all the luxuries out of it to reduce weight etc, then ya sure, go with a Z28, but if youre into a little bit of looks to go with the power, nothing accentuates power quite like beauty.

alright I will give you the rundown. I am sure others will chime in as to what I miss.
There are 4 main stages to the 4.5 generation (1998-2002) Camaro. In order of lowest to highest (in terms of Chevy's ratings) on the low end is the regular V6, then the RS (V6 with ground effects), the Z28 (8 cylinder LS1, could be had with minimal options), and on top the Camaro SS.
Features of the SS over the Z28:
1. Hood scoop with working ram-air
2. Rear flip up spoiler
3. Suspension Goodies
4. Leather, top end interior.
Overall, the SS runs almost exactly the same as the Z28, as both of these cars were under-rated in their stated power from the factory. Brochures in 1998 placed the Z28 Camaro @ 305 horsepower, and the SS @ 325 horsepower at the engine, not the wheels. In actuality, they both make around 300-310 horsepower at the wheels, which translates to around 340 at the engine.
The main thing is that overall the SS is regarded by most as a better looking car. However, some people like the simplicity of the Z28. For example, I hate leather interiors, and I prefer cloth seats.
Anyway, I think you'd just haev to look at some pics to decide which you prefer, since they are basically the same exact car underneath. I wil include two pics to show you the differences. I hope this helps out in making your decision. You certainly can't go wrong with either, though I DO have to agree with Anubis in say ing that a girl in an SS is a damn fine sight. Best of luck again.

1998 Camaro SS (2001Pewter01SS's car) the hood scoop paint, wheels, and front bow-tie grille are aftermarket.

of course i may have a hangover from June 11 bc thats my grad. party lol

What part of Florida are you going/moving to?Florida has a lot of Camaro/Firebird/F-body clubs.Jacksonville,Tampa,Orlando,South Florida,Gulf Coast,East Coast, and the panhandle area all abound with f-body and muscle car clubs.I've driven down to Florida from Ohio in my 98Z 6 times and the car lots always seem to have a selection of camaros and firebirds.Check out a pontiac dealer at rts.441 & 50 in Orlando. In june of 04,there were probably 8-12 f-bods on the lot.
