Smile New here from Australia

Hi All,
I just found this forum whilst looking for info about rebuilding the motor in my 97 'Holden' Suburban.
Can anyone tell me what category that motor falls under? Ie, LS-1, LS-2 etc.
It's a 5.7L Vortec.
Thank's
Howard

Welcome to the site Howard. I know the truck section is getting it's own site right now but, can't remember what it's called. Just look around here, you'll find it.

You guys are very lucky to get all the new LS1/LS2 Holden toys GM gives you. I'd kill to have a Ute SS or HSV Avalanche.

I also saw a few Holden Suburbans when I was in Sydney last year, very cool.

Gday; The motor in your suburban is known as an L31 motor. To find good information on rebuilding that motor look on ebay for the repair manuals on CD, I always use "techline" as the search to find GM stuff. Have a bunch of repair manuals, GM course manuals, new model updates etc thanks to ebay.

You could rebuild the motor or simply replace it, factory long block is USD$2250 (part number 12530282 ), theirs a shop in Sydney called Suburban imports who are selling performance rebuilt Vortec 350s (L31) for round the AU$3850 area.
