Long time Lurker...
Hola, well guys I joined this site quite some time ago but am just now deciding to post hah. I've been car shopping for about 3 months and I currently drive an 02 V6 Stang. I've had a rough time finding a car but yesterday I checked out a nice 02 Z28 A4(33k for $15,895). I'm goin back tonight to try and finalize a deal, but although I'm paying my dad will be cosigning (I'm 20, and have no credit haha). My dad is iffy about the whole ordeal as he questions the Camaros reliability (sister had a 96 V6 back in the day that gave alot of grief).
I would like to realistically know about any reliability issues I may come across(I know my brother had a 99 Formula with consumption issues), but hopefully I will remain convinced enough to go through with the deal.
Btw, the Camaro I test drove was all stock and pulled like a beast (felt much better than a 98 Formula I test drove like a year ago).

For the most part, these are pretty reliable cars, probably not what most people(including your dad and mine) are used to. The LS1 has proven to be a very reliably strong engine, with some defects which seem to be the norm for any late model cars. As to whether or not you should be convinced. It really depends on what that car feels like to you. If you second guess a feeling about it, make sure you're right about the problem before you buy it. Basically don't get yourself into a hole. For example, I turned down a SOM 01 Z28 from a dealer because it was a little rough in the 45-50 mph range. I bought a 98 Z28 with same mileage 2 months later for $4000+ less. I have no regrets whatsoever. These cars are fun as hell, but be careful what you buy. BTW, I happened to pass by the dealer of the 01 Z28 yesterday. Their lot was completely empty-out of business...go figure. Anyway, sorry for the novel, and welcome to the site.

THere are ways to help with the consumption problems. There was a new post the other day about a new PCV valve the was used in the 6.0 trucks. I went and bought one. Also there are homemade catch can ideas as well. Welcome aboard and go buy that LS1
