new LT1 guy
Hey everybody, I just wanted to check in and say what's up... a little about myself, I'm from south jersey and I'm currently going to Rowan University for Health and Exercise Science. Right now im driving a teal 96 z28 A4 w/3.23 gears, flowmaster catback, and ebay cold air. I bought the car last summer for $9,000 with only 49K miles on the clock, garage kept, t-tops, yada yada. To date the best time with the car is a 14.1 with a cruddy 2.17 60ft on drag radials... pathetic. I also managed to pull a 14.3 on a 2.6 60 ft haha. I've tried numerous different launching techniques but none of them do anything because the rear is starting to peg leg. When I lose traction only one wheel spin and its all over there. Second gear gets me a little sideways at the track, scared the **** out of me the first time at the track. I actually do have a few questions. The car is due for some maintenance, I plan on doing plugs/wires, fuel system flush w/new fuel filter, new O2 sensors, tranny service, and possibly drain the differential. Actually that is a lot of maintenance but I want to keep the car in tip-top shape. My question is do you guys think I should drain the differential? I'm afraid the fluid in there now may be the only thing holding it together. Would this help w/the slight whining and peg-legging? Also I heard about this Auto-Rx stuff, do you guys think it would be a good idea to use that for the engine, and transmission, and possibly even the differential if I decice to service that? Thanks in advance for the help, I really enjoy this site even though I don't have an ls1. I will be getting one when I graduate though so things are going petty well... thanks again
