Hi. I've been looking around here for a while now and finally got around to registering. I've owned a few VW's and a Mustang, i'm currently looking into picking up an Camaro (LT-1). I'm also registered over at camaroz28.com. See you around.

John

Welcome to the board. Get an LS1 car instead. Used 98's are around the price range of a late model LT1 car and the HP/ engine is better. Don't settle until you at least check them out.

Thanks. My reasoning on the LT-1 was that it was the first Camaro i've driven (back in highschool). I can afford to pick one up as an extra vehicle too. I'll keep the LS-1 in mind though.

Welcome. Your best bet is to find a clean, taken care of f-body, either lt1 or ls1.
There are still nice, low mile lt1's cheap out there.

I'm doing the responsible thing and waiting to get rid of the Jetta first (hopefully in the next week or so)...i'd rather not have two car loans.

Question for the LS1 guys....i've heard that the engine itself is stronger, but do they have any gremlins (ex. electrical). Everyone i've talked to that has a 94-96 LT1 is thrilled with how reliable they are...that's definately a big decision maker for me (that and i prefer the older interior over the newer one).

I've wanted one of these for so long that it'll be tough to pull the trigger and pick one out that meets my lofty standards.

I don't really think the LT1 is more reliable than the LS1. Both engines have their share of issues. LS1's sometimes get piston slap and consume excessive oil. The optispark is prone to failure on the LT1.

Basically, get one (whichever you get) that has been taken care of and checks out good. Have a mechanic look it over if you are not confident with everything about it.
