Default Hopefully new owner of an '02 SS

Heh my name is Derek, I currently have a '95 3.4 A4 and hopefully will be picking up a '02 SS M6. Hopefully by Monday! Can't wait..

But I have a funny question, this car is slightly modded, but I am not sure if the skip shift has been eliminated yet, and if its not, its going to have to go! I saw the page about using the resistor and seeing that it is on top of the tranny. Not a problem there, my thought though was do you get to it from under the car, from inside the car, or literally drop the tranny?

Just curious because its something I will want to deal with almost imediatly and lack of space to work on cars is what is stopping me from finishing building and turboing my '95.

Thanks, hope to learn alot with this one also!

Derek

It's not that hard at all...you just need to not take the tranny off and you're done...

Ya, I'm looking at new places to move into here, where I can have a 2-3 car garage, even if I have to build one. But I want some space to work on my cars. I'm used to it, but it stops me from wanting to do things like new heads..

I am about certain if this all goes through I will be beyond pleased with the '02, it already has headers, and the complete exhaust system, not sure what else yet, but its only got 22k miles on it. Only thing that bugs me is no t-tops so I might try to find someone to cut them for me.

dude they don't make very many hard-tops. that being said don't cut them out!!! if you would rather get a t-top i'm sure someone in your area has a t-top SS for sale. by the way if you want the exact number of hard-tops made in 02 call SLP good luck with the purchase

Ya I thought about that yesterday when I went back down there to finish off my loan stuff. I think I'll end up leaving it, if I decide later it drives me crazy, I'll trade it out and get one that has them.

*Thinks.... I still want a '97 SS LT4 M6*

Currently it has SLP headers, 4" pipes all the way back to a muffler I don't remember whom makes, I will probably swap the tips with Borla Dual Squares. Also has a K&N filter, and an Ultra Z hood. Not sure what else may be done yet. But my first steps are going to be to buy the lid and intake, ignition, tune, and then start the suspension and brakes.

Curious while we are all on this silly line of subjects.. I was reading here that the driveline can kinda be ripped apart in this car fairly easily after modding it sounds like. I don't plan on building this one extreme yet, but might later down the road. Will the factory driveshaft, rear end ect.. hold up with about bolt ons, thinking exhaust, tune, ignition, clutch ect, and quite possibly a light cam.

No I talked to them today about the loan its comming.... Arr the wait is KILLING ME!

Only thing that bugs me is it has an Ultra Z hood and not the SS hood, I just want the factory SS hood to have it.. It honestly looks like the Ultra Z hood would be better for air induction.

Yes I checked it, and they gave me a copy of the original window sticker also.
