New guy from Illinois
Thought I would stop in here and say hello.
A little bit about me, I am currently restoring/modifing a 72 camaro, who would of guessed. It is going to be a pro-touring style car with a completely rebuilt suspension including goodies like hotchkis leafs, tubular upper control arms, qa1 coilovers up front, caltracs, and delalum bushings everywhere. The motor is a 490hp/505ft-lb 468 inch chevy which will be backed up by a lt1 t-56. Which leads me to why I joined here. My primary reason is to do some reasearch on what to do to my t56 to make it stand up to the new motor and I figured all the info I would need could be found here since this site is dedicated to the most popular engine that the t56 ever came behind.

Nice car. Welcome to the site. I have a T-56 too. As for upgrades, the trans itself is good to like 600ftlbs stock. Most people get the synchro upgrades. Cabon fiber synchro frictions, billet slider keys, steel shift forks and bronze shift fork since these pads are the most likely parts to break. I am from Bartlett near Elgin. Hit me up on my PMs if you have any questions about the trans or clutches. I know where to get the best prices on parts and labor for these.
