Been reading this board for a few months and bought my first f-body 2 months ago, and thought it was about time to introduce myself.

-lil about me:
I'm 21, been into cars since i was born and have grown up around hot rods and performance cars my entire life. I'm finishing up my assoc, degree as a mechanic, and am curently going back for one in machining. Really looking into getting a job custom fabricating parts because the job market for cars where i live is terrible (dealerships around me have eliminated 2/3 of their workforce). Been working at a shop part time for 2 years now while having another job to help pay for my toys, plus 2 schools, lol. I never let anyone work on my cars, i gotta do it myself, and enjoy making as many parts for my rides and other peoples cars as much as possible. (currently making a bunch of suspension parts for my bird). I have looked for an f-body for a few years now and finally broke down and bought one. Hell, gas is never gunna get cheaper, and you only live once, right? Got tired of only driving my 17+ sec daily driver Dodge Spirit.

-Bought a '98 Trans Am w/ 28,000 miles. No accidents. Better stay that way If I didn't work at a shop, I would never get anything done on it. Did all the 30,000 mile maint. stuff, except waiting to do coolant and throw the 160 deg. thermo out and put a stock one back in, then detune the Hypertech Tuner and sell that along w/ the SLP MAF (anyone want this stuff?) Not many mods on it, Just a SLP lid, cold air kit, smooth bellows, Magnaflow 3" catback and high flow cats, egr tube cut, Hypertech crap tune, and 160 thermo. Trying to get subframe connectors welded this weekend, and put my panhard rod and LCA's i made on. (anyone have an adjustable torque arm at a reasonable price? ) It needs waaaaaay more power, lol. It's an A4 (I hear you all laughing, but it will get a turbo 400 soon) GU5, G80 car. Only thing that annoys me is that a week after i bought it, the headlight motor crapped out, and the previous owner lied about a few small details. Other than that, the car is beautiful, but i have to put her away in a few weeks and can't enjoy it till next season. i just noticed two things on that car.....one...ya gotta get rid of the nasty egr...and two....whats up with the throttle cable and its attachment to the throttle body....my 99 tb doesnt have the little black box on the flange and i have never seen that on 01-02s either....

Thanks for warm welcome everyone. My #1 problem right now, is that I have to get e-checked. Aparently, w/ collector plates, you don't need e-check, but I cannot find out if my car qualifies, unless I send the $$ for plates. I see '98s by me w/ collector plates, but according to the i-net, i may not be able to get them.

-So far, this is the only car i have seen w/ that lil black box on the cable. not too many f-bodys come to the shop. But here is a closer pic of it.

yea im lost at that....ive done countless portings and worked on several lsx motors....never seen that, looks like a throttle sensor or cruise sensor of some type but i dont understand the cable....i know the cable hanger has options for more then one cable....but i never knew they would have two

As of right now, I still have no idea. I can't see it being a sensor though, i am gunna post it on another board and see if anyone else has seen one like it.
