Default Pics of toys

After playing with high performance boats for the past 15 years, I am now getting back into the LS1 hobby; and is it ever addictive. Below you will see pictures of my two T/A's. The convertible is a 2000 Trans AM, with 20K miles. It is all stock, except for the lid, and flowmaster cat back system. The black car is a 1998 Trans Am WS6. It has headers, no cats, and a Borla system. It also has the lid, WS6.com short stick, hurst handle, and a Ram dual friction clutch. I have the FAST intake, new throttle, and cam. Just haven't put all the new parts on.

We also have a 2002 Excursion and a 1997 Crown Victoria. These are our regular drivers. The TA's just sit most of the time.

I have noticed a few people talk about how difficult it is to work on certain parts of these f-bodies. If you look at the picture of my 1995 28 foot Sonic, you will see a cramped engine compartment. It has two brand new 502/525 HP carburated engines. I just finished this work in April of 2006. I don't have pictures of the engines completed, but the one engine compartment picture is while the finishing touches were being done. As you can see, there isn't even enough room to change the spark plugs.

Thanks guys! The boat is without a doubt, a fun, fast 'family' toy. The engines do have a lot of horsepower, but yet the boat only goes about 76 MPH (on GPS). It takes A LOT of power to make boats go fast; especially a Sonic. They are extremley heavy. They handle the waves great, but can't touch a Fountain with the same power.

The boat is fun, but what I would really like to do is make a pass in an 11 second car. Hopefully soon.....

LOL reminds me of a guy who posted a 2X' Velocity here in the classifieds with like 600HP. Claiming the boat did 120MPH

I'm all about boats. Are you on offshoreonly.com? I'm big into Apaches, meanwhile I'm saving for a 36' Warrior. Hard to come by at 21 y/o!

Next up is probably an '05+ F350 Dually. I need to finish the projects I have going on now before I buy anything else.

After that I'll do a 95-97 C2 911. Or I'll spring for the 36' Apache. Have to have the truck, before I buy the boat though. You know how it goes, too much is never enough!

06' Suzuki GSXR 1000
'04 Honda 450R
'00 Sea Doo XP
Built Go Ped... etc.
Plenty more pics in the picture link in my Sig.

BTW Nice Sonic! Details on the motors/drives?

Believe me; I know how it is. I had to get the Excursion before I bought the boat. I have about 15 years on you, so just be patient.

The motors are 502 chevys. The heads were redone by Bill at Advanced Automotive. They have holley 850 carbs, Weiand Team G intakes, crane roller cams, roller lifters, push rods and rockers. The valve covers are custom made from Eddie Marine. The aluminum exhaust is by CMI. Each engine also has DUI distributors, clear DUI caps, and DUI wires. The drives are just standard Bravo 1s, with 26 p Bravo 1 props.

Like I said, the boat is a lot of fun, but I would sure like to have it in the upper 80s. I just don't have the money to put that much power in those engines. When you can go 70 mph on a boat, with your drink sitting on the dash, it is a pretty cool feeling. Not to mention, the sound of two chevy big blocks at about 5300 RPMs is very cool.

Are you trying to tell me that boat has over 1000 hp thats pretty damn awesome.
One of my dads old co workers has become just a consultant now and he was telling me how he went and bought a cigar boat (I think thats what he said but My family doesnt know much outside bass boats haha) and he will go out on the lake before a meeting and show up to the meeting looking dressed in his sweet hawaiian shirt and shorts and his har just blow straight back and stuck like that from doin 80 or 90 in his boat. hahah What a life

That sonic must move with those 502's what kinda prop you running on it. How are the bravos holding up with the power. I have a 302 formula and am in the process desciding weather or not to rebuild the 454's (one hydrolocked this season) or up grade to some 502's. but i have the old trs system and it might not hold with the power i am looking to push out of the motors.

JstLs1, I think you would be better off to get a ZZ502 short block from Chevrolet. I think you can get one for about $4000. Add heads and a decent cam, and you will basically have the 502/500 HP that was so popular in the late 90's. I have the block number at the shop where I did my motors. Let me know if you want more info. You can email me at gia@olg.com.

Thats kinda what i was looking todo cuz by the time i go through those 454's blocks and head i could probably buy a short block. I planned on going with an all Aluminum upper half. With some stainless steel manifold/headers the boat brfore went around 65-67 mph would like to see it go 80 + but it is a heavy boat.

Going with an all aluminum upper half is a VERY good idea. Attached are a picture of my buddies 35' Sonic. He just had the boat painted, and put all kinds of goodies on the upper halfs of his stock bottom half 502 magnums. He has a high lift cam, Edlebrock aluminum marine heads, and reprogrammed computers. He is running about 82 MPH. My boat is only a 28, and I can only go about 76. I didn't want to take the chance with aluminum heads in salt water, but looking back, I should have!
