Default New to board from NC

Hey guys, after having a 2004 mustang v6, i have decided i really want an ls1 camaro. After putting up with an automatic for so long i have decided that i want a little more excitement while driving, so im looking for an ls1 w/ 6spd short throw shifter.

Also, any tips on things like superchips? how do they work??

Thanks,
Danny

Great man. I'm up in K-Vegas. Where you located? You'll love the LS1 when you get one.

I'm not far at all from winston salem, maybe 15-20 min. And yeah, from what I've read, i will have much more fun driving an ls1 rather than a 3.9L v6

Oh and btw i am 17, so a lot of people also say an ls1 is too powerful for me...

DO NOT BUY SUPERCHIPS or any handheld tuner, bad idea. Your car may like it at first, but a 1000 miles later you'll end up running better on the stock tune. Put the money towards a cat-back instead. Better bang for the buck. Handheld tuners just give you a new base tune (air/fuel & timing), one tune on one car may not be the best on another. But anyway, an LS1 is always a nice choice, welcome.

Paying to get a tuner to do it, you actually should be able to find that cheaper than a hand-held.

welcome to the wonderful world of LS!'s!!!! This is a great site for you LS1 questions, comments, etc. Im in Burlington so im not too far from ya. Oh after a few mods; lid, catback(or true duals ) , etc. then worry about getting it tuned. The hand helds are pretty much a waste of money if you ask me. Again nice to have ya!

Welcome man. I am from Lexington. Where exactly are you at? My buddy has HPTuners and tunes my car, I am sure I could hook you up with him if you like. He does very good work, tuned my car, and quite a few others in this area.

I'm from Greenville, but currently live in Virginia Beach. Yea, I just turned 19, and thw LS1 isn't too powerful for me. Don't get me wrong, though. It'll surprise your I have a handheld tuner, and they're right. They're only good for so much. You need to find someone to hook you up with a good tune, after you get the right mods. You'll be fine man!

Welcome. Congrats on your decision to make one helluvan upgrade! First, I would focus on getting the car. If you buy it from someone on some of these forums, you may not even need it. Who knows, you might find a heads and cam car in your budget!
