Default New LS1 half owner

Heard about this site a couple years back but had no use for it cause I didnt own a car worthy of trolling the site. With that said I just inheireted a Sunset Orange 02 Z28 A4 with about 128,000 miles on it from my g/f so I figured I'd check this place out and see if I could pick up on some mods I could do for cheap. And ask some questions also. I know enough about engines to get me by but the LS1 is not one of them. And I definently dont know that much about F-bodys. I plan on making some mods to it in the future seeing as she told to do whatever i want to it. Ok here comes some questions.

1. What would be a decent cam to put in thats not to radical? Would I have
to change anything else? ie springs, rods, rocker arms, anything else
2. On the LS1 are LT headers a better choice or could I get some Shortys
to put on there with the same results? ie sound, performace
3. What kind of exhaust? True duels, cat back?
4. Stall Converter? Which one and how much of a stall? Before or After other
mods?
4. Shift kit?
5. Anything else I should considers

It all depends on what you want to get out of it.
Me, I'm going with a Comp XER 228/230, true duals, springs (valve springs), etc.
It differs from person to person.
What do you want your Camaro to do?

Id like it to be a solid street car and when I take it to the track occasionaly Id like high 7's low 8's.(1/8th mile) I have gotten a 9 flat out it but that was staging at maybe 2 grand. I didnt want to spin the tires. Basicaly just a solid performer. I thought it was pretty quick when i started driving and its still quick to me but it leaves me wanting more.

Get a lid and LT's and exhaust. Stickier tires too. A stall will wake up an auto. Personally, I lean towards 3000 stalls but I've never driven a higher or lower stall.

LTs only. shorties wont flow any better then the stock manifolds, which arent bad as far as stock manifolds go. lid/filter, CAI, LTs, catback, drag radials, stall of your choice will wake it up. gears later if you want, then move onto suspension. with that much milage, although perfectly normal and safe for an LS1, id do a full maintainence checkup first, before racing/modding too much. all the fluids, filters, etc. bearings, seals, suspension, the usual wearing stuff should be checked out.

People will throw all sorts of stall speeds at you for your converter. Here's what you SHOULD do. Once you've chosen your cam and have the supporting mods done, then contact whoever it is you will be purchasing the converter from and discuss with them what would be the best option for Stall Speed/Ratio/etc. Every setup is different that is why there are so many choices and opinions when it comes to converter choice. There are many sponsors on here who'll be glad to set you up with a good converter, so give them a call.

So what i should be doing first is doing a over haul like plugs wires tranny fluid radiator fluid rearend fluid basically anything that could be bad or low from being driven by a girl for 5 years that never checked anything like that. I will give her one thing she did keep the oil changed regularly.
