Hello from Italy!
nice to meet you!
I'm writing from the North of Italy, the famous lake of Como
Next Tuesday I will pick up my "new" 1980 Pontiac Trans Am...
I'm so excited
And then I will receive a crashed donor '95 Camaro Z28 equipped with a beautiful LT1 /4L60E. I plan to do a complete restoration on the TA in the next 12/24 months, swapping in the Camaro engine / transmission assy.
Anyone around here have do something like that?
Any suggest will be really appreciated.
no one in Italy have do something like that!
regards!

I believe you would have to buy regular fuel and add an octane booster. I mean we are talking about a country...ummm I couldn't explain what a stryofoam cup was to one of my friends.
You are looking in the range of $6.51 a gallon for "Green Gas." I believe it has ethanol in it. I have never asked but most of them don't drive high compression motors. Most people I know are making ~1.300 USD net a month where 50% went to taxes.

as I promised to you, here are the pictures...
yesterday morning we wake up at 4 A.M., starting one our later we drove a towing truck to Ravenna to pick up the TA. Fortunately, the 15th of August in Italy is holiday, so many people are on vacation and the road are empty w/o traffic. so, it was a nice travel. after 8 ours and 630 km at 1 P.M. I was home.
I put under the hood a new battery and 15 litres of gasoline in the tank.
the engine immediately starts, but only 4 or 5 cylinders burns. after some minutes all the 8 cylinders starts to burn, but the engine is not in good condition. It smokes a lot. By the way I have the LT1 ready to swap in
I take the degreaser and the High pressure water jet cleaner and starts to clean all around the body, under the hood, under the fenders and so on.
the old guy who own it leave the car in the out side under the rain and under the sun for the last 3 years
The TA will sit down for the next few month until my new home is ended. But I prefer to have it a little bit cleaned
so, here are the pictures:

My dad never seen a car like this:

engine bay. All the car is matching number ...

Interiors:

Rust, rust and rust:

this is the major trouble I have. This terrific rust is in both the side of the roof. I hope to fix it w/o changing the roof!!!

so, I will post more picture when I will start the restoration!
regards
I think the car would be worth a ton more $$$ with the original motor in there as it's pretty rare.
BTW, welcome!
