Lightbulb Hello from OverSeas

Hello everyone

1st of all ..thanks for such an informative forum

You probably have heard it before ...but I & most of my LS1 fans - here in SA - browse your forums always, looking for answers or just to chat over a subject.

We do respect your members opinions & figures, and we put them to work in our rides ..therefore I wish you can help me here, or guide me to the right section of your forums to post this question.

A friend has recently swapped an LS1 in his '70 Z240. Engine is topped with Fast90 intake and 42 injectors, G5X4 cam and Patriot 64cc heads.

We expected big numbers on the dyno, yet we were disappointed to see almost 270rwhp !!!

they guys running the dyno said pressure is low too & we don't know where to look for errors ..

can any one help ??

Thanks again

Welcome. Glad to hear you joined us on Tech. Man, I was reading your post and when I saw 270 RWHP I almost fell off my chair. There is totally something wrong. Umm......I might start with a compression test to see what is going on in the cylinders. What kind of dyno was used for the tune. Im thinking that after doing those mods, a tune is definately needed, and there are so many changes that I wonder is something wasnt right when the car was on the dyno. Im going to think of some things and see what I can come up with. I know some of the Veteren guys will chime in and give some advice, but that has me stumped. Something is very wrong. You know what, something as stupid as a spark plug or wire could be bad, maybe change them out and see what happens. How did the rpm range sound, did it sound slow, did the car seem like it was rough??? Let us know.

And welcome again.

Sweet, sounds like you may have found the problem. Let us know what you find. Maybe a little timing in there will fix it all. Sweet. Got any pictures or videos of it???

Sweet, do you know for sure if it is running better?? If you could check the timing I know that could help. One other thing is clogged fuel lines. Maybe a fuel pump/filter. Plus are you running the proper injectors? Im just trying to think of anything that is small or stupid that could cause this. Ill keep on thinking until you get it fixed . Good luck.

Mike

Hey Mike ..

My buddy Z240LS1 just uploaded the vids U asked 4.

He managed to block the leaking areas with a temporary fix ..

bottles cork

yeah thats right .. cork

Well things got better, as he says, after opening up the headers yet the Dyno kept on turning off 'coz of vibration on its platform !! ( according 2 guys @ the Dyno )

We will keep U posted with latest news.

Thanks Z240LS1

Check the conversion and hybrid forums, you will get a lot of information there from the swap.
All tech forums here will get you better than the current 270rwhp.

Wow, the car sounds amazing. I bet that thing is going to haul when you get it the way you guys want it. The only thing bugging me is in the dyno, it sounds like it took forever to get to redline, unless it started in a very very low rpm range. Once you get the bugs out of it, that is going to be screaming. Thats awesome. Keep the updates coming. Z240LS1, whats up man. Nice car, you and Y3K better keep up the good work.

Breaking & News

My pal found out that TWO of the injectors R not workin'
so he replaced them with new set & the existing Fuel pump with a 255 unit,
opened the headers w/ 3" pipes & adjusted the AFR to almost 13

Result was great ..

346 RWHP and 309.4 lb torque

Here is the chart & the clip 2 prove it

http://www.saudihotwheels.com/vb/att...3&d=1191414819

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...23275820032273

So I think we can rest in peace now ( at least 4 couple of months )

Finally .. I would like to thank all of you, and especially Mike for standing by us ..

Thanks guys .. U R the Best
