Default Just a Hello

Just want to say I'm glad to be here, and hope to make some new friends. I have an '04 GTO m6 mildly modded, and i have goals to mod it out to become an awesome street performer. i have been modding cars for the past 13 years, and have owned 4 supercharged fords, and this GTO, my first taste of the Ls1 power philosophy. there is something very impressive about an engine that has enough capacity to make great power from an NA perspective. i see that this site has immense information, which some of it i dont understand yet, but i'm hopefull that i will learn alot more from you guys. i came over from ls1gto.com, to which i find that there are more people over there willing to start arguments and they love to flame, rather than discuss and share info. i just hope that i can have a good learning experience on this board.

You'll definitly find the largest base of LSx information on this site. good luck with your GTO and welcome to the side. what else are you looking to mod? what have you done already, got pics of your car?

i have been trying to study tech data on the ls1 and i'm undecided if i want to go FI, or just stay NA. i am heavily leaning towards NA, because i think this would yield the most reliability for me. The car is a daily driver, and it may become an occasional fun car in the future, but for now it's my only transportation. i'm thinking more about a mild cams/head combo with 3.91 gears, targeting at least 420 rwtq in the driveability range (1800 - 6000 rpms). not interested in very high peak dyno numbers or even the elusive 1/4 mile ET/trap speeds that only the deep pocket $ guys can get, although i love to hit the local tracks to see what everyone else is runnin. if i ran the GTO, i would like to see it in the mid to low 11's when i'm done modding as a goal (hopefully not breaking my stock irs half shaft on slicks). Mine runs very good as it is now especially on the top end, but i want to add to this the necessary "under the curve" torque to very quickly decimate, without a doubt, from any traffic speed, any normal variety street car or truck (vtec or some other bs hype) that wants to challenge or attempt cutting me off. I know i will have to think in terms of at least adding 100 - 150 rwtq or more (to overcome the GTO's heaviness) to get to this point. I also know that FI would be the best, nothing like having a 700 ft lb, 3rd gear tire shredding monster, but i'm not sure about getting instant throttle response from a turbo setup (and that's alot more money than i can afford). I guess a supercharger would be better and get me close, but not sure about reliability. big bore/stroker ls1?? Anyway, there just seems to be alot more of those obnoxious and annoying "stock" import cars (japanese and german) that think they have the supreme advantage over all "pieces of junk" american cars as they call it, racing the highways in rush hour.

oh and i don't have pictures yet, but i can upload another pic of what mine looks like (it's just stock looking for now). and thanks for the welcome. mods are in my sig.

Goodluck with the car man it looks great. In terms of streetable i dont think you could beat a turbo setup, if you stay out of the boost its like they are barely even there. supercharger/big cubes would be the way to go if your looking for that neck jerking low end torque. im a big fan of big cubes and decent shot of spray. this way you have to torque, plus even more when you spray, then you just turn if off.
