Default from K20 to LS1.

Hey, Im Justin, I have a friend here somewhere on the forums who had a z28, but im not sure what his SN is on here.

Right now I have an import, a supercharged RSX-s with about 300HP, I like it alot, but I HATE front wheel drive, I have crazy traction problems even in third gear, and they dont make traction bars, thus I will never get to have great traction, I can have 800 HP and still only run 10 on the 1/4 mile.

So I think im going to get an LS1. But im thinking about building the GTM Supercar, with the LS1 and maybe turbo it.

Here is the car I will soon be parting out

Here is a vid at 5psi, its at 11 now

yeah they make nice power, but shitty traction, even with good motor mounts, torque dampner, slicks, and LSD, you still get wheelspin up the whazoo, lol. first is pretty much useless, second is pretty bad if I dont drop it in gear the right way, or ill get wheel spin or wheel hop like crazy, no fun.

And yeah, I chose the LS1 because its an older LS engine, thus more mods are out for it, or so im told, and as much as id like to have an LS7... I cant afford the gas for it, lol.

LS1 it is, possibly turbo or twin turbo, but boosted for sure.

I <3 boost

Where is the best place to get a LS1 engine with low mileage and great condition?

There's always a lot on eBay. Engine-trans-PCM-harness, whatever you want. They don't seem to go for that much either.

I was in the same boat as you. I owned a couple RWD muscle cars before but I decided to try a FWD turbo. It was a lot of fun but there wasn't any "future" in it. FWD is such a horrible platform to build off of.

Good luck.

nice rsx, looks real clean. I have an 03, and it can't get a decent 60' to save its life even stock. You will love the difference of the 98-02 f-bodies, awesome mid range and even better top end, you'll have no regrets. Good luck on the search!

Right now its the JRSC, 650cc injectors, 11psi pulley, and belt for $2000

Comptech auto tensioner for $400 (i got it for $500, its BRAND new, and you kinda need it for 11psi, or you shred belts like hell)

very nice rsx...i had a 283whp turbo del sol at 6psi (race gas + race street tune must have been over 400whp) and it was alot of fun...but i have never once had a regret going the ls1 route. You'll like it, goodluck!

You need kpro, and I have that, ill sell it to you... but you need to be a type s!

For 7psi you need injectors, plugs, belt.

For 11 you need auto tensioner or electric power steering (auto tensioner is about a grand less, and i have it for sale), and 650cc injectors, 3bar map sensor, and motor mounts.

Im at 11, thus I have everything, except the 3bar map sensor.

If I go forth with this project... let me know, ill hook you up!

My buddy is almost done with his GTM Supercar. He's worked with turbos on and off for almost 30 years. From what he said, there's no room for a turbo in that engine compartment. But hey, if someone has figured out a way, let me know and I'll pass it along.

Nevermind, I looked, a blower wont fit at all, lol.

Hum... a twin turbo looks possible though.. with some mods. Intercooler would be a bitch though. Might need to put it in front of the rear tires so the scoop in front of it will catch air for it.

If not.. nitrous it is. Or NA
