Default asian + rice = fun

Hi there.

My name is Riku... I'm asian and rice is pretty much on my staple diet... that and ramen.. and I mean REAL ramen, not that cheap crap you buy at walmart. Seriously now, wtf?

Okay, off topic.

So like...

I don't know CRAP about american cars. But they're interesting to me.. and a very good friend of mine is into these things and his damned interest rubbed off on me. (That and when I ride with him in his toys, I practically crap all over myself b/c the power is slightly overwhelming.) That and I think being able to stuff a V8 into a tiny *** import and have a shitload of power to the wheels is orgasmic. ;D

I have 3 vehicles. One is a project (Nissan 240SX that I'm contemplating on shoving an LT1 into once I get the funds up and a little more knowledge about the swap under my skirt) the other is just an emergency beater car (Nissan Maxima turd) and the other is my DD/toy (BMW Z4) I took it to my first autoX event this past Sunday and got hooked. Expect me to go through tires like TP...or underwear... or... some other witty quip that I can't think of right now.

Um.. I'm not totally stepping into the automotive field with cold feet. I do have a basic grasp on general mechanical workings, maintenance and other crap. I used to be a technician at a Nissan/Mitsubishi/Hyundai dealership so I worked with quite a bit of pain in the *** vehicles daily for about a year before they laid me off (slowness)

Now I'm trying out to be a body specialist at Gary Smith Ford (fancy that, eh?) and uh... cha

That's about it.

This is probably the most I've EVER written in an introduction thread. Wow.

Haha. Fo sho! I have an online portfolio somewhere. But it should be filled of pics of all my slow vehicles instead of me.

I love my slow cars... well actually one of them doesn't even work. The 240 is about an hour's worth of work away from working but I'm lazy and don't feel like putting in the effort to doing it. (pretty sad, huh?)

I'm on this site also so I can learn....stuff. LOL my buddy forwarded me here... I've stopped in from time to time and got confused, but all forums confuse me so I suppose it's not so bad. ;D

Besides... where else better to go than to learn about the engine I'm about to stuff into my car than here? I've also done some research on wikipedia and howstuffworks.com... I have a headache. So I'm going to need to have a shot of sake here in a few (joke) tee hee.

Welcome to the site. Let me ask you though, why an LT1 and not an LS1. the LS1's lighter and you have more power off the bat, as well as the power potential for price is great.

Yes. I would LIKE to put an LS1 into my car, but it's more money than I can afford at the moment. I just don't have 7k to throw into an engine right now. Hell, I don't even have the 4k for the LT1 but I'ma make it happen, dammit! lol

I know most people would be like "save money and get the LS1 instead of the LT1!!!" but I honestly don't want a retarded amount of HP that permanently keeps me sideways. Besides, I'm not looking to drag race this thing. Just something fun to play with at the autoX events. (and I won't have to take the bimmer anymore. ****'s expensive to maintain!!!) I think 300whp is plenty fine for me. It's more than what my stupid bimmer makes. Unless of course I win the lottery, get the M series Roadster and have it tuned by AC Schnitzer then I might actually be happy.

But for now, I'll settle with what I got... and damn, I have some serious body work that needs to be done to the 240SX as well. BOO

I have no idea what FWIW means (should prolly look up the damn acronym) but I'm guessing the LS+tranny and 58k for $5500 is a good price.

Does that come with everything included? Like the ECM and engine harness and stuff? And is that tranny a M/T? B/c I really would shoot myself in the face if I had to drive another a/t. I have a manumatic/shifttronics/hybrid in my bimmer and I HATE IT. GRR!!!

BTW, I am Ebay RETARDED. I tried to look up stuff for an LT1/LS1 and came up with oil caps. wtf?

Welcome to the board and get ready to have some fun! There's a wealth of knowledge on the board and I'm sure there are plenty that would be happy to help you make decisions regarding your LT1 (or LS1) swap into the 240.....that would be a killer combination.

I can get you a cheap LS1... You're gonna have to work for it though But on a serious note: LS1s are really not that hard to find. Hell, I have three of them laying in the shop. I just wanted an F-Body that came with one. But if I was to blow it up, I'll just stuff another one in it that used to run 10's.
