got a couple questions for you. a friend of mine has a 07 sti with turboback, catback, intake, tune and pulley. he wants some more power but doesnt have enough cash, yet, for a bigger turbo. is there any middle ground in mods that are worth it? what about the tumbler delete? turbo inlet? have you done these mods and was there much of a difference??? thanks
If he has a tune he must have some sort of EM. I would guess a piggyback like the APV2 or a Utec. The Sti's do really well with just A FEW mods...forget about the rest for now til he's ready for some larger upgrades. Rememember that the Sti's only put down around 225-240whp to the actual tires on a dyno from the factory. The following would put you into the early 300-325whp range and score you some nice 12's.

ECU (Sounds like he already has)
3in Turboback exhaust/uppipe/downpipe
Boost Controller
Perrin BIG MAF intake
Turbo inlet 2.5" (B&M makes a nice one)
TUNE!

TOTAL: If he has none of the above he can probably expect to pay around
$1,200. Cheaper if he hits up the forums. Not bad. Gets expensive after that. Let me tell you though....320whp in a Sti is a ton of fun... A quick launch, AWD, and a fast spool with a light car makes it hard to keep up with on the street. He can pick on a lot of LS1 cars...just don't do it if there is a track nearby where they can get traction lol. Nothing seemed to **** a LS1 guy off more than knowing his car was faster but he couldn't hook up worth a **** on the street and by the time 8 blocks was up the race was over and catching up was out of the question haha.

I always loved the kind of rival between guys in the area. I was always the kind of "thorn" in my buddies sides. Seemed like we all kinda hated eachother at first and now we are all pretty good friends. I just wanted to show that when done right.....a fast car is a fast car. Doesn't matter what it is. I Didn't want anything to ricey or crazy. No big graphics, no neons, huge subs, paint schemes, loud fart pipes and blow-off valves. Just a nice, clean car that made great power. I think I did that. Now..... I'm ready to do what I do in the LS1 world

Again, thanks so much guys for the welcome!!!

Whats up Bud!!!!?? How is everything going man? Were all missing ya around here! I finally got my car sold and he should be here this weekend to do the deal. He is driving 10 hours to get here so I am pretty sure its a done deal.

I got my eyes on a LS1 car too. If all goes well I'l get it next weekend. Auto SS with about 33k on it. Supporting mods are already done as far as lowered susp, stall, shift kit, girldles, control arms, headers, exhaust, DR's, ECT. Plan on doing a comp cam 54/444/11 with the LS6 intake, ported TB, and ST.Louis tune for now. Should get me some good ET's and being a low mile auto....the rear end should last a little bit if i'm not launching it much. Kurt told me he got his wheels off the ground with his auto rear-end haha. Same mods and some 11. runs. Id be happy with low 12's. We shall see. Of course....when have I been able to stop? haha

Great hearing from you man....keep in touch.

honestly I don't know haha. Im flying out Albany tom am to get it. I belive it is red. I would be happy with either color. It's only got 32k on it and basically all supporting mods and thats what sold it for me.

Already found a cam and a set of CNC heads w/comp springs ready for install. Just need to order the gasket set for the setup. Porting the TB also. Stock intake for now. I think Il meet my goals with those mods for sure.

From one former WRX owner to another welcome to the site! I finally have my Z running faster than my former Stage 4 WRX (by .1 second in the 1/4 mile hehe). I kind of miss my Subie but that car was possessed! I'll be checking out your sale thread though.

I miss the STI for sure man....but 600whp is just to much for a daily driver and the insurance was stupid! Try 400 a month! NO kidding.

I miss my STI sometimes. I bought it when they first came out and waited 8 months for tuning solutions before I sold it. 2 months later the UTEC came out. It didnt help that the DSM I bought new and got rid of for a new STI prob had over 200 more RWHP. Oh well I love my SS though. I am actually looking at picking up an 05 or a Mazdaspeed 6 as a dd.

Il never forget that car! I had a friend ride with me one time and he had a drink from starbucks. It had the lid with the plastic top and tiny hole you know. Well I did a long 4th gear pull and it pushed us so hard into the seat that the liquid actually climbed the back of the cup and out the top of the whole in like slow motion.....it was such a wild car!
