Default Livernois

G8 owner here. Spoke to Jason regarding a DOD delete kit, without one of Livernois cams. Andy called me back, asking why I was breaking up the kit. I responded to say that I wanted to work with another vendor on that as I wanted a tighter LSA. He responded that a larger LSA would be better for lower end perf......................

Here are the parts to the kit:

Livernois Motorsports Stage 1 L92 Camshaft
Livernois Motorsports Dual Valve Spring Package (Livernois Motorsports Dual Valve Springs, Titanium Retainers, Valve Spring Locators, Locks, & Valve Seals)
ARP Head Bolts
MLS Head Gaskets
Hardened Pushrods
GMPP LS7 Lifters
GMPP LS2 Lifter guide kit
GMPP LS2 Valley Cover
GMPP Valve Cover Breather Block-Off
GMPP LS7 Camshaft Sprocket
GMPP Timing Chain Dampner
GMPP PCV Hose for Non-DOD applications
GMPP LS2 Lifter guide kit
GMPP MLS Header Gaskets
ARP Timing Chain Bolts

I wanted the kit minus the springs and cam, retainers, locks, seals, and with GM head bolts. I was quoted $999 for just these parts................

__________________________________________________ _______________

edit due to overwhelming response!

the parts that were quoted $999 for were:

GM Head Bolts $20.80 *2
MLS Head Gaskets $29.19 * 2
GMPP LS7 Lifters $114.40
GMPP LS2 Lifter guide kit 5.56 * 4
GMPP LS2 Valley Cover $83.06
GMPP Valve Cover Breather Block-Off------Livernois part?
GMPP LS7 Camshaft Sprocket $14.34
GMPP Timing Chain Dampner $23.62
GMPP PCV Hose for Non-DOD applications----no idea of part number
GMPP MLS Header Gaskets $10 * 2
ARP Timing Chain Bolt--no idea of price

This gives a total price of 377.64 for everything but a blockoff plate, a pcv hose, and 3 bolts!

999?

huh?

end edit

Hello,

Typically with a kit or package, we can substitute parts, but we don't break it up. With that kit, you could order another cam that we offer or we can even get a custom grind. The way that kit is in our system, all of the individual parts included are listed at retail, then there is almost a $300.00 discount to get the "kit" price. If we deducted the cam and spring kit at retail, we would lose money on all of the other parts.

If you would like to speak to me, you can call me at 313-561-5500 ex. 2123 or email rleblanc@livernoismotorsports.com and I'd be happy to get you a cam that fits your needs.

Thank you

Regards,

Rick LeBlanc

Haha, gotta love when people want to drop items then still get the kit discount.

Hey Rick, My buddy Kim from Monmouth really loves that cam and kit that you guys installed in his G8.

Keep up the good work!

Robin,

I'm glad Kim is happy with his car. Has he made it to the track yet?

Thank you for the kind words.

We use Livernois for many of our parts. Rick has always taken excellent care of us and the one time we had a problem it was handled exceptionally well.

They are top notch, plain and simple.

Keep up the good work guys.

I'm with Rick I would not split it either. Why does the other shop your getting a cam from not offer you a good complete kit like this?? And I am sure if you ask they will build any cam you please but customers love to mess with something that is proven to work and work good.

"customers love to mess with something that is proven to work and work good"-- it's perfectly ok for someone to have requirements differing from a vendor, especially if the vendor is one of the few that assemble a particular package for a particular vehicle.

oh, and these threads are allowed to reduce the appearance that sponsors might run these open forums. if you don't like it, pm your forum authorities to ban me, or refer to above statement.

Thanks to Texas Speed, Scoggin Dickey, and Thunder Racing for fulfilling my requirements and trusting my decisions.

Setup:

418 stroker ls3 from Texas Speed
Custom cam and DOD delete kit from Thunder Racing
Ancilliaries from Scoggin Dickey

decisions and installation by owner

If its not worth a thousand dollars, then simply go somewhere else. Why the need to start a negative thread about a very reputable vendor simply because you dont like the price you were given when you decided to try and break up the kit?

no one is trying to "screw" you here. Its simple. the Kit price is no longer the Kit price when you decide to break up the Kit.

What these threads are allowed for are legitimate grievences that customers might have with vendors.

I dont believe this falls into the "legitimate" category.

TTT indeed. common sense people need to see this thread and realize Livernois hasnt done anything unethical or wrong here.

So let me get this straight...

You want SOME of the parts that are sold collectively as a package deal. You don't want the whole package, just part of it. You understand that it is a deal because of collective profit from the whole.

Now, because you can't have the parts as cheaply as you want, you make a thread telling people to "Beware" of a vendor?? Really?

Again to sum up... you want to break up a package deal and you want to Livernois to charge less for what they are selling. Because they won't bend over and give you a further discount or meet YOUR price goal, people should "Beware of" them. Oh, and that somehow warranted this thread... because you know, that's what this section is for.

REALLY??

You might not like the price, but a complaint thread is unwarranted. Over the last 12 years that I have been messing with LS- stuff, I've got many quotes that I didn't like or thought were too high priced, but I don't think it's my place to make a thread about it.

I appreciate that, john, but I was left with a bad taste of incorrect application advice and price manipulation. all of this was in the interest of getting the sale.

It was my opinion that 999 was a number that was just thrown out there, it came from thin air.

It's amazing the talent you have for reading people’s minds. And the best part is that you are giving sponsor feedback for a company that you never even had business dealing.

So what you are saying is that if a vendor doesn't give you a price to your satisfaction then people should "beware".

Quite frankly Livernois or any other vendor has the right to pull any pricing that they choose out of thin air our any other cavity that they desire. You have the option to either make the purchase or move on. If you want to cry and whine that you think that the vendor is a bad bad sponsor then you need to get a grip.

Anyone with half a brain reading this post will realize that you have no beef with Livernois.

Yet you continue to make yourself look bad by beating the dead horse.

You want to take it to the top, let’s rock dude. It only makes Livernois look more like a victim.

Have a good day!
