This statement is made on the behalf of Strange Engineering in response to some of the inaccuracies on this thread. “YUKZ” is posting this thread for Strange Engineering and not responsible for the following statement. Neither ‘YUKZ” nor Strange Engineering will respond to any comments made in reference to this statement. We would just like to help everyone understand Strange Engineering’s involvement and decisions in this unfortunate situation. The following is the chain of events as recorded by J.C of Strange Engineering.

-“Killer01ws6” contacted Strange to complain of a noise coming from the rear of his vehicle.

-Strange attempted to find a Strange distributor in the area to look at the vehicle

-All potential distributors were either too far from the customer or unable to take in the car for service.

-“Killer01ws6” located Driveline Service of Atlanta on his own and brought his vehicle to them knowing they were not a Strange distributor.

-D.S. of Atlanta looked at the vehicle and determined that the posi, ring and pinion, and the bearings needed to be replaced.

-Since D.S. of Atlanta was not a Strange distributor, it was made clear to everyone that Strange could not warranty the parts until they were inspected by Strange.

-Strange had also informed D.S. of Atlanta that U.S. Gear was backordered on the posi unit at that time and that returning the one out of the vehicle would be the best option.

-D.S. of Atlanta did not return any of the parts to Strange

-D.S. of Atlanta decided to order the posi, gear and bearings from an outside source (not Strange) to replace the parts in the rear.

-D.S. of Atlanta completed the repair and charged “Killer01ws6” $2006.00 for the repairs, which the customer paid for.

-“Killer01ws6” then contacted Strange to “pay” the bill.

-Strange had still not seen any of the parts from the vehicle.

-Strange finally sent a call tag to pick up the parts that were never shipped.

-U.S. Gear inspected the posi and determined there was nothing wrong with it.

-Strange inspected the gear and bearings and determined the pattern on the gear was good, but, the side bearing had failed, which would have caused the noise in the rear end assembly.

-This means the entire situation could have been resolved with a $15.00 bearing!!!

-In order to help out “Killer01ws6” Strange issued a credit for the posi, gear and installation kit (at Strange’s cost) as well as $195.00 which is the labor that Strange charges for an install. This total came to $740.00

Strange Engineering was only obligated to replace the bad bearing on the posi. We could have returned the posi and gear to “Killer01ws6” along with a new bearing kit. Strange Engineering has always prided itself on its reputation of its customer service, so, we decided to go beyond our obligation to help our customer and reimburse him for all we could. Strange Engineering now has a used posi and ring & pinion that can not be sold in the future. I have also provided a quote to “Killer01ws6” to help him negotiate his bill with Driveline Service of Atlanta.

Strange is hopeful that this may help everyone better understand our position. Thank you for your time.
–J.C. of Strange Engineering.
