A freakin' guy with an '02 WS6 that lives LITERALLY right around the corner from me ordered a set of 1 7/8" x 3" Kooks less than 4 weeks ago is gonna get his this week . . .
I was just told that "the reason for the delay was the size piping I requested . . . " ??
What's so unique about 1 7/8" x 3" BTW . . . that's the size I ordered
This is the last time I do business with TByrne again.
Also, I'm gonna share my experience with every F-body club member/board in Florida I can find

Just so you know alot of us have been waiting on headers from Kooks. We ordered a set of 1 7/8ths headers for a C5 at the middle of June and have still not recieved them. While I understand you are upset that you are waiting and havent been updated you have to understand it is not Tbyrne's fault they dont have your headers, Kooks always operates on a back order at this time of year like alot of manufacturers do.

dragon - i feel ya. i was waiting for a GP to open up for a month or so and when it did, i was #11 to pay for the product. the first "group" was supposed to be the first 15 orders...so, i thought COOL - i made it. then the orders went out and were available for tracking via UPS. guess what? nothing is shipping to my city, but people that paid after me, even after the first 15 are receiving their product or at least have a tentative delivery date. i'm still in the dark because the vendor hasn't responded to my PM or e-mail. oh well. i'm pissed but i waited for other parts that took more than a month to arrive, so f*ck it. i've gotten so tired of waiting for stuff that i really don't give a **** anymore.

oh yeah, but they sure do take your money real quick though, right?!! I think that a GP should ONLY be for a certain number i.e. "first 25 to purchase ONLY" of a specific product - that way folks aren't lured into buying something for 10-20% off when it takes twice as long to deliver, or more....

Most of the headers from the last Kooks GP came in and shipped yesterday. There are only a few sets that haven't gone out yet. As Phil mentioned we are all waiting (thanks Phil!). We can order pallets of product from some manufacturers and see it in 7-10 days while others take much longer. Kooks recently moved to a new facility and will be improving their production process to help speed up operations. Updates can be seen by going into our website and then scolling down to the bottom of the GP section. Even I have to wait if I want to put a set of Kooks headers on my C6...
The Dragon: You know that your one of the lucky few whos headers didn't ship yet. Kooks is working on the 1 7/8" now. Your set will be sent to you from Kooks to speed up delivery. This way you don't have to wait for them to come here and then to you.

Received an interesting pm and felt that I should reiterate my driving concern for most of this thread:
Lack of information for the first five weeks of the wait.
I said it before and I'll repeat myself: if I was told it might take 7 to 9 weeks for delivery of your product before I ordered; I still would have ordered. But I would have had a better time frame for the installation of the $3K in other items cluttering up my living room and garage.
I would have installed everything else a month and a half ago and dropped the Kooks product in when it arrived. BTW, my order is the only F-body order remaining that hasn't shipped.
Also, to Mr. " . . . act grown up . . . ," or something to that effect: your emotional involvement clouds your judgement concerning the issue at hand. I made no personal attack to ANYONE. A certain person, or persons, professional behavior in this situation is another story.
If you are whom you say you are, then you would completely understand what it's like running a business and the necessary pitfalls that come along with such action when one does not communicate, or does not translate the correct information, with their customer.
I'm sorry if you took it as a personal affront, but business is business. I'm sure the person in question is a good person, but I wasn't kept "in the loop" for a long time.

I don't mind waiting, but having to chase a company down for weeks in order to force them to update you is not acceptable IMO.

He!! . . . I would have paid list price if I could have gotten them in less than half the time I've had to wait so far. Money wasn't an issue in my case, but the GP was ending and I thought "why not?"
Now . . . I have the answer to my own question
TByrne: I was told on the phone Monday that "they should be shipping directly from Kooks this Friday . . . I need this verified for a certainty.
If not . . . the other 3 sponsors that have pm'd me . . . one of you is getting a call for my order as I will have no choice but to cancel my header nightmare.
Please respond TByrne.
Edit: ya know what . . . I've had a bad exhaust leak for the past month and a half but didn't wanna spend $50 to get it plugged up because I was gonna get my new headers in "any time".
If I knew it was gonna be a lifetime for delivery . . . I would have fixed the leak weeks ago and probably saved quite a bit of money (I drive a lot) in gas mileage.
Instead . . . I've lost lots of gas mileage (money)

If you are talking to us directly why are you posting the same questions here? You'll receive an answer much faster over the phone or through e-mail than you will posting in here. Just wanted to point this out...
Also, as mentioned, we do not make these headers and have no control over when Kooks produces them. Granted you were told they would ship out in a shorter amount of time and I know that most people want products in hand when they decide they want to order them (I'm the same way) but it is not our fault that the headers have not shipped yet. It's easy to say that it's all TBYRNE's fault that the order hasn't shipped but your order would have been long gone if the product came in when it was supposed to. I don't like anyone waiting. Kooks produces their headers in batches (different sizes... different vehicles). We're ordered headers for stock that won't be in until September. They make a good product but this is one reason that I had to go with another brand for my Corvette. Didn't want to be bolting them on towards the end of the driving season. Vendors also have to rely on what the manufacturer tells us. They can think something would be ready to go in 2 weeks. 3 weeks later the shipment hasn't arrived, the vendor calls and finds that it's 2 more weeks. I refer to this as an "automotive 2 weeks". That can be 4 to 6 in the end.
Everyone wants a group purchase to save money, vendors don't make much by selling at these prices, manufacturers get buried with orders and that pushes production behind, customers get upset that their order is taking to long and then the vendor/manufacturer has to deal with all of that later.. GPs should just be eliminated. This way products would just sell at the regular retail prices that they should be at and sales would run smoothly instead of the orders piling up during a GP. I think the largest one we ever ran had over 130 orders. That manufacturer was buried for awhile!
Good news!!! Your order actually shipped early!!! I was just told that Carol called you and left a voice mail this morning. The headers went out yesterday. A tracking # number is on your voice mail.

I've looked through our recent complaints and see that some people are unhappy because we haven't contacted them with an update. That will be changing soon. Customer feedback has put things in motion to keep you better informed when a product isn't available to ship quickly (special order, backorder ect...). Thanks for your feedback that allows us to serve you better.
Have a good day,
Tom

To answer your earlier question about why I'm posting in here: I discovered your company on this website as well as your GP(S). I got no communication whatsoever for the first month concerning the consequent delay of my order.
Now that you see, through this thread, the problems that arise you can make the necessary adjustments in your customer service.
Also, a small gentlemen claiming to be Holly's wife (pardon me, husband) has been sending me beligerent and harassing PM'S about my thread.
The PM'S are not very insightful nor are they well thought out; but they are slanderous.
To the person sending the PM'S in question: yes. I would have a problem with another company if they received my money and order more than 2 months before I received my paid for product.
Also, Julian B. ordered the same set of Kooks and Y from another sponsor here on Tech and RECEIVED his headers this past Thursday, the 28th of July . . . LESS than a month after placement of said order. (He lives around the corner in the same zip code as me)
TByrne: you might wanna speak with the above mentioned individual. Insulting the customer(s) that do business with your company is illadvised.
I look forward to receiving my Headers tomorrow.

I actually read through the PMs today. The conversation was between two people in the "outside world". Maybe a little borderline on if he should have sent it but the messages from her husband weren't slanderous. He did receive an interesting reply through. No reason to post any of that through and I did say something about this.
